"over and over and over and over again" Bunch of moron libtards....

Got my 2020 preliminary tax bill for property tax's. 52.4% goes to schools. The schools in my town are some of the worst in NJ and the country. Out of 13k high-schools nation wide ours ranks in the 12k so only 1k are worse. Out of a score of 100 we get a 33. At what point does my $3,300.00 yearly investment show a return? 11% of kids who graduate are competent at math & 8% at reading yet 85% graduate. How is that even possible? What about the 15% who do not graduate? What about the 92% who can;t freaking read at a high school level? Also found it alarming that 49% are living below average means and 52% are minorities. Since 52% is greater than 48% - how are they minorities? That's a separate rant for a separate day.

Paying over 6k in tax's yet only $1,400 goes to my local municipality and I pay water/sewer separate. The schools and county take the rest. Getting tired of supporting Camden City and worthless schools who can't teach our kids. One of my conservative buddy's is running for office this year. He has me thinking. I got no issues calling myself an independent cause for the first time in my life I am, but not sure if I could handle the idiots at the town level. Spent way too many nights attending town meetings in my years when the gubment tried to steal my moms land under eminent domain and those meetings made me want to tickle my tonsils with buckshot

My best friends dad and my former boss got so fed up with the school district that he ran for office and got elected. However, he tried to change too much too fast, rubbed too many board members the wrong way and they got together to get his opponent elected at the next election. He also had a heart attack from working full time and doing politics, so after he recovered, he retired and called it quits.
But the stories he can tell about his time in office...I actually ask him to stop telling me stories because it's so upsetting. And all this BS happens in my small little town too. I can't imagine how bad it is on a huge city level.

Sounds like what would happen to me lol

My town is less than 11k. Very small blue collar town that's turning into a ghetto quick. White flight, urban sprawl, and prescription pills/heroin have decimated it wile the local gubment stands around with their thumb up their bum.

Per $10,000 we are the 12th highest taxed municipality in the entire state yet based on just average tax bills we are #450 out of 566. I just find it very suspect that one of the most depressed small towns pays one of the highest rates. The math just doesn't add up. My sister lives two towns away in the town I grew up in and her taxes are higher but her percentages much less. Their schools are top of the line as well. Better services yet they pay less. She pays 1k more in taxes than me and her house is valued at 3x more than mine.

I don't want to sound like a commie, but this system is fubar. Either someone at a local level is blowing wads of cash on nothing or the fix is in. Either way my town is being taken advantage of by someone. For 7 years a red light has been out on our main street... lol The red bulb is blown and accidents happen all the time. *mindblown*

Hard to keep tax's down when 3/4 of the state is gubment employees.... taken from my second meeting this morning. No mater what building I go into most are gubment offices they rent out. Should just build a freaking tower and stay there forever. They do 10 year leases and move from building to building remodeling each and every single time on our dime. This is Philly not my state, but same applies to NJ as well.

I wasn't expecting it to take this long but whatever... we lose 3% we lose 3%. Just pisses me off that the companies use this as a tact for a cash grab. I know for a fact Rockwood was buying materials domestically before Assa bought them out. I'm sure it's now all China crap. Getting very hard to find good US companies these days. All the old school ones are being bought, stripped down, and outsourced by idiot investors who know nothing about the buisiness. Now the only thing that remains is the brand name that "used" to be worth something.

This is from the world largest hardware manufacturer (Assa Abloy)

"Distribution associates,

As a reminder there is a 3% tariff increase in net pricing on all closer products from Norton, Sargent, Corbin and Yale.

A 3% net surcharge will also appear on your invoices for Pemko, Rockwood, Markar and McKinney brands.

The net cost increase will appear on your invoice and is the result of the 15% tariff in May on Chinese goods.

Projects quoted beforehand will not be affected. Flashship will be affected by the increase.

When the tariffs are rescinded, the prices will be adjusted back to their previous level.

Please let me know if you need a copy of the letter for your GC’s.

Thanks for your continued support and partnership."

Expect the prices of food/groceries to increase 15% or more over the next few months as well.
There is is a food shortage through out the world, and the good Ol’ Mericans businesses are exporting more food and which makes a lower supply and higher demand in prices here.

My cost of living raise ain't covering that kind of inflation. Thats pretty steep

Very true!

I'm seeing WAY to many investment firms buying up glass fabricators. Just happened to one of my local plants JE Berkowitz. In business for almost a century and doing great - get bought out and all the top guys leave (brain trust) then the shit birds run it into the ground. They had the balls to send letters to their customers stating that if you did not buy 50k in materials per year from them they no longer want your business. That pissed off just about everyone. Now it seems like every 2 quarters they get some new fancy CEO that never worked in the industry to put some new plan in place that fails. While trying to maximize profits they forgot where they came from and the customers who got them there.

The only big company that's traded publicly I liked working for was Oldcastle - I was just young and dumb or I would of stayed there. Alcoa wasn't all that bad at first, until they realized they could farm out my fabrication work to guys in Magnolia, AR for 1/2 the pay the job required up here. Thankfully I quit there before the bottom fell out of the residential shower door industry when the housing market exploded

It will be interesting to see when if/ or when a major hurricane hits a major populated coastline and the ripple effects of the grocery stores/supply in that region and how long it will take for them to recover.

I was told from a friend in the grocery distribution biz, that they were told do business as normal... and “quote downplay any of the shortages as temporary issues”.

Our infrastructure is crumbling so any major storm has impacts that last for a decade plus. When Sandy hit Long Island, NY my buddy didn't have power until spring. Their local hospital shut down and never reopened. The first thing that opened after Sandy was their local McDonalds (generators for power). I can't even imagine a winter on the ocean with no electric for people who aren't prepared. They also had issues getting the natural gas lines up and running again.

I didn't hear much about food shortages back then, but gas was an issue. I'd see people in my local hood filling up their beds with 5 gallon tanks to bring back down the shore. Driving hrs to get gas when your life is ripped apart sucks, but it didn't get hostile. Inability to feed yourself or family could bring the worst out of the people. No food for too long will bring hostility
