At some point, I hope people take their heads out of the sand and see that some things are working while others are not. Instead of choosing candidates based on "easy to understand" and "polarizing" topics like abortion and gun control, we need to start looking at more topics and electing "good" people who are qualified to do their jobs. The sad part is that it seems like good and qualified people have no desire to become associated with politicians, so we are left with the deceptive and manipulative.
I wish politicians on both sides of the house would stop asking "is this good for my career" and start asking "is this good for our country and the people who live in it?"
