Finally got this little 20V compressor in. I plan to use it on my house remodel for now until I can move my 80 gallon air compressor over when we move in. I also plan on using this guy at Jason's ranch and my bosses ranch building decks and deer blinds as well.

After using this compressor for the past two days, I'm mostly happy with it. You can sink about nine 3-1/2" nails with it before it'll kick on but you can nail another six nails before you have to let it catch up. It's lightweight and portable which is pretty sweet. I'm sure this little compressor will do way better using a finish nail gun.

The cons though are:
1. I do wish it had a larger tank. I would take the trade off for the weight.
2. I wish it had the ability to be plugged in to an outlet rather than just a battery.
3. It'll chew through batteries pretty quick. I went through a 9A 60V battery in about two hours.
4. It's loud for how small it is. It could be quieter but I would trade that off for a more powerful motor.

So long story short- We have an old Porter cable portable compressor that was a family shared tool. It shit the bed on me awhile back and there's no replacement parts available for it since it's almost ~20 years old. I remembered that my step-dad had fixed an old 220V 20 Gallon Sears compressor that he got for free from one of his buddies. I also remember him fixing it and then pushing it in the corner as a backup compressor instead of installing it to replace the 110V compressor in the shop. Well now I know why. It takes ~2 minutes+ to fill the tank and the air regulator switch doesn't trip on until you hit ~80PSI. So that's not going to work for me as I was having to go over after 35 shots with my nail gun to manually bleed the PRV so the compressor would recharge so I could get another 35 shots off (or I'd have to burn 5 shots of 3-1/2" stainless steel framing nails which would get expensive quick). I looked for replacements parts for this compressor as well but there's nothing available for a compressor that was made in 1990.

So that old compressor isn't going to work for the volume of work I need to do so I ordered a Makita MAC5200 on sale from Home Depot. We'll see if it can keep up. If not, then I'm going to return it.

Got to use this new guy today and it's pretty sweet. From filling a completely empty tank to 140PSI is just over a minute, ~70 seconds. But filling up from 110PSI (when it trips on) to 140PSI is really quick.

Picked up the final socket sets I needed, 1/4" metric and SAE impact rated.

Some of those sizes in impact rated make me think there will be some sheared off bolts at some point. Did it come with an extractor set?

Yeah, probably not needed for as small as some are.

I picked up a HF "chief" needle scaler the other week when it was 30% off. Think I paid $70 for it, I didn't need it for anything in particular at the moment so it's on the shelf awaiting to be used. I'm sure living up in the salt belt it won't be long before I need to remove some rust from something though lol

I finally got to use the Metabo 2-1/2" metal connector nailer today and what a piece of shit that was. Out of 10 nails per Simpson Hanger, it would misfire 6 of them. Going to try to return it.

Already bought the Bostitch 2-1/2" metal connector nailer to replace it since I have another 50+ hangers to go lol

Well after screwing in a bunch of 6" structural screws, she finally gave up after 6 years. Time to replace her with the newest impact DeWalt just came out with.
