I was watching forged in fire last night and what do they bring out? Same portable Portaband tables so the guys could cut down steel at their worksstations.

Going to stop posting these as this site has a sale every single week. Pretty much like Rock auto if you pay retail you lost $$$.

I need to stay away from that website. I have been thinking about replacing one of my old DeWalt grinders lately. Last time I used it for an extended period of time it got really hot and threw a few sparks out.

Taking my Ridgid multi-tool back in for service a 3rd time.

I really like my Ridgid stuff. I would have sworn by it before all of this. I'm going to ask the repair shop to just order me a new one instead of throwing more parts at this one. If not, I may consider switching brands....

Just got their new cordless backpack shop vac and metal cutting saw.

Vaccum is meh. It mostly does the job it was intended for. It's a little anemic. It could definitely use some more suction, but for picking up grinding dust, concrete dust it does okay. Metal shavings pick up slower.

Saw is a bad little bitch. 10/10 can cut all the way through 2" square tubing

Ive always been happy with my Milwalkee purchases. Ive had a 1/2" corded screw gun for almost 20 years now and it's still going strong. First decade it got used commercially down the marina - last decade it's been at my house barley moving lol

Been using DeWalt 12" miter saws my entire adult life in commercial applications and my house. Never had any issues besides the electric brakes melting, but thats after years of commercial use cutting aluminum. Also used to use their cordless 18v stuff down the marina where I couldn't run power. Think I used up about 5 batteries over a decade and blew up one screw gun. Screw gun was my fault - I should of been using an impact for running 3" screws into decking.

Bought my first Ridgid item 10+ years ago and it failed after some heavy abuse. Random orbital sander and I did all my hardwoods in my house with it + dropped it more than a few times (wood was warped so bad I couldn't use a drum sander). I never took it back but need to. Ended up liking it so much I bought the same exact brand & model again. Also ended up buying their 10" portable saw table. I love that thing. Also got a 20 gal wet/dry shop vac Iva had for 10 years and it's going strong.

Update on the saw. Very disappointing. Not the quality and bulletproofness Milwaukee is known for. This saw has less than one 12.0 battery worth of use on it. The morons at Milwaukee must have done ZERO R&D on this saw. After ripping through about 4' of 1/4" plate I started to smell something on the saw burning. At first I thought I smoked the motor already. Nope the guard is destroying itself. The cheap plastic of the guard is getting destroyed by the hot metal chips. The only test they must have done on this saw is metal studs or something very light. The guard has just about melted a hole in itself.

Keep in mind I've only used the saw twice so far.

To be honest I doubt that thing was meant for cutting a bunch of 1/4" plate. You should be cutting that with a shear.

lol... Yea most plastic saws have trouble with molten red hot chips. My DeWalt chop saw has similar issues. Even worse if the saw is not clean and it's got a ton of melted wax up there that's sprayed all over from using it as a cutting lubricant.

Milwaukee should assume that commercial use tools are going to get abused and pushed to their limits. What commercially used power tools aren't?

Don't make and market a metal cutting saw that isn't designed to cut all metals.

Same thing would have happened just over a couple more uses cutting tubing, or other lighter Guage materials. All it needed was a magnesium or aluminum shell around it, same way they did on the corded version.

My corded version just got done cutting 5' of 3/4" plate no problem

@Silverback posting here because I have a bit more to post that should go here. Attached pic is the same thing; just a lot cleaner. I also brought home a 36" sheet metal brake on a stand. It is pretty stout and should make some upcoming projects pretty simple.

I will agree the plastic guard is probably not the proper material for that application regardless

Found $90 in Home Depot gift cards in my wallet from last Christmas. Went there looking for a new 3/8ths Fuel impact. No joy. Ok.. what else do I need? They had a buy a 12v set and get a bare tool for free. One of the tools was the 3/8ths ratchet... cool.. they had the ratchet.. but not the combo kit I wanted. Shit.. What else? Well my cordless Milwaukee "Dremel" is acting up (I need to send it back for repair), anyhow they had a cordless Dremel for $99, Amazon had the same one for $139. Not a bad deal.. ended up paying $17 out of pocket.

Placed an order for small CNC table tonight, have heard good reviews :headbang:

wait wut......CNC? WTF you need a CNC for? I used to run one and write code for it so you got me real curious as to what you need one of them for.

Needs and wants are two different things lol

Figure I could save money on buying pieces like tabs, gussets, etc. and make some money if people want parts cut out. If somebody sends me a dfx file or sends me dimensions I can make something up to 2'x2'. I took CAD for 4 years in high school so drawing something up shouldn't be too difficult.
