Looks like I am going to be replacing my Ego tools soon. The big battery that came with the chainsaw is not charging properly now. This is on top of my old string trimmer starting to not work as well (only 3-4 years old now) so I am going to price out switching everything over to the Milwaukee tools or just replacing the Ego tools one at a time. I would not mind getting the larger Milwaukee M18 batteries as they also work with the M18 tools so that would make the battery charging options a lot easier too.
Sell your Ego tools on Craigslist/Facebook market place and go in on Milwaukee? Might be an option.

Same here, it lasted one season. Battery powered trimmers etc are the way to go.

I gave the Milwuakee string trimmer and blower a good run today. At first I was a little disappointed with the blower but later realized I had it on the low setting. On the high setting it made easy work of cleaning off the porches. The string trimmer is a bit heavier than the Ego trimmer but I think it is better hardware in the head than the Ego has. I ran it for a while on the low and high speed settings - both worked fine. The string that comes loaded on the string trimmer is crap though. I am looking forward to reloading it with better string next time out.

I am going to wait a while to catch a deal on the chainsaw.

I've been contemplating getting the Ryobi cordless weedeater. I love the Stihl that we have, but we have a hill that takes a little under 2 hours to weedeat solo. I was thinking that a second trimmer would allow 2 people to knock it out much faster. I already have the Ryobi 40V hedge trimmer, so I've already started down the path of that system.

I originally wanted the EGo stuff based on Zech's recommendation, but now I'm glad I didn't go that route.

2hrs of strait week wacking? What do you live on a golf course or something? :roflmao:

Seriously though - thats a time suck. Takes me less than 2hrs to edge, wack, blow, then cut and suck in that order - but Ive only got 1/4 acre

I just laid out my perimeter lines for my garden fence and got it on order. Losing another 890sqft of grass for this "bed". Will bring me up to a total of 1,392 sqft less grass to mow this year vs last. And most important - turned over almost 1400 sqft of land that used to take and will now start producing

Any of you guys have strong feelings on T posts? I can easily get 14ga powder coated @ 1.25lbs per lnft. or drive 20 miles to get HD posts that are 1.33lbs per lnft and a few bucks more. Thinking the heavier and thicker the better. I'm only hanging 16ga 1" hex grid chicken wire.

I really like the equipment but the batteries only working with their equipment became annoying. Now that I have the Milwaukee trimmer I also have a big M18 battery too. So now a good 1/2" Milwaukee impact is on my watch list.

Yes - I hammered enough of them in my youth to know I never want to touch one again. For your application they are fine but I recommend doing a row of slick wire across the top of the chicken wire (then wired to the chicken wire) to keep the wire from sagging/bending. This is the best setup I have seen over the years.

I was wondering how that would stay up/ridgid for the 11' post centers recommended. Good tip.

I got 150' of 12" tall hex grid I'm burying and using as the low sacrificial rot/rust zone and to help me level it. My ground is not level so leveling 12" of fence will be easier solo than 48". + it was 50% off for the 12" section so let that rot and be easily replaced with the 48" above that. I know all too well what happens with rust up here so figure thicker posts and galvanized hex grid coated in black PVC should last a few years.

Was looking at hot dipped galvanized t posts but holy cow are the good ones expensive up here.

If you are going to go tall with it then I would run a second strand of slick wire in the middle to help prevent the wire from getting bent/warped. Generally wire fencing fails due to age or getting bent too many times causing fatigue snaps. It does not take much to reinforce it to make it last years longer and tighter.

no more than 5' tall, but on one section that gets high strait winds I was thinking of adding some silt filter fabric to lessen the winds ~ Getting some plant damage from them recently as the new plants adjust to our higher winds. Same winds that took down my 6' privacy fence. Having it be stronger than weaker is preferred for sure so two-three runs of slick wire at 120 lnft each isn't that big of a deal. For the costs of the posts I may do less than 10-12' centers as well.

With t-posts and cows we never did more than 10' apart and that was always pushing it. Generally 6-8 foot apart was best. Since you are not going to have a one ton lawn mower pushing against the fence you are probably fine at 10' between posts. Just make sure to run some slick wire in the mix as well to add some strength. That is also where some fence stays come in handy as well; cheaper than t-posts and they keep the fence vertical.

That reminds me I need to go buy some stays for the hog wire pen I just built. I didn't run the slick wire top, but spaced the poles at 8ft and ended up a little wavy at the tops.

Pretty much. It takes me about 45 minutes to push mow the yard. I think having 2 people do the slope would make it less of a chore that we hate doing. Plus, gives us something to do "together" :D.

Happy with the the Milwaukee corded and battery operated fan right now. Was hot as heck w no overhead fans on due to no power till I remembered I finally bought one. It's a little loud though but pushes a ton of air

Which one did you get?

This little guy... It ran for over 8hrs last night on low and only used up half of my fully charged 5.0 battery. Says it will run on low witht he 5.0 for something like 17 hrs. Its loud but only because the blades are so aggressive and it pushes so much air. Perfect for a sweaty night camping to cool you down or keep the bugs off or when your house has no powaz and it's freaking HOT

& unless you are using it to move air for work/fumes/dust/etc. there is no need to ever use any power but low. The rest are ludicrous speeds lol

I need to get myself one of these......

I have two Anker 10,000 mAh battery banks, but would like to keep one or two of these w/my tools at all times just in case so I can get the most flexibility out of all my batteries

They have a similar setup for the M12 batteries too. I would think the M18 batteries would go further though.
