Not shit posting or trolling. Serious question.

How many of those have a.) been used only 1 time, or b.) never been used?

Quit, some folks are addicted to meth, while others buy tools, not necessarily a bad habit, especially if you need that particular tool to get a fix.

I have about a 1/3rd of @Silverback plier collection and when you need a certain set of pliers, you NEED them. I can't imagine living without my plier set now because it's come in so handy overtime.

I don't disagree. My plier game is weak.

But I still have tools that have been used once or never that were purchased because I thought they would be needed (or needed more than they are).

If it's a hand tool like pliers or the like, I'll buy it before I need it. For some of the more expensive specialty tools, I usually wait until I need it. Of course there are always exceptions to my rules, which usually involve drinking one too many beers and clicking on the interwebz.

LOL. I take it you are guilty as well :D
Ha no, I use all the tools I have. But there are definitely tools that I use more than others.

I do have an influx of stuff hand tools that I don't need right now, but I found a small toolbox at work that was getting thrown out, so I'm putting together a tool kit for my youngest nephew.

Nice.

On the flip side of the coin, I have some tools that I bought thinking that they would only be used a few times that get used constantly.

I try not to buy something unless I know that I will need it. Until the recent CV reboot, I had some crimps and lock ring pliers that had not been used. But their cherry has been popped, and almost everything I own has been used for its intended purpose.

Picked up this guy for the 9A battery + 8A supercharger (to use for my electric mower) as well as for the E-Brake on the saw. I'm going to be doing a ton of overhead cuts when I put in the new beams on my house and I like that the blade won't be spinning still when I take my finger off the trigger.

I bought a saw-slide to convert my corded Makita worm-skill saw into a permanent ripping saw for now.

This came with the farm that I bought, I brought it home for the shop, gonna put a bench grinder on it that I got from The Laundry Fairy's Pawpaw many years back.

Just it gave a coat of flat black rustoleum.

Same here, no troll or well I guess I am shitposting

One of the reasons I took a hiatus....

Not that I can talk but i am trying to turn a new leaf and there is way to much "collecting" and not enough working in here for me to change my ways.

Stopped keeping up w Jones by dropping off this grid

I find it is easier to do some tasks with the right tools. Sometimes I can get by without but sometimes the right tool is what it takes .

I do collect tools.. some people collect stamps. I find tools more useful. I also use tools, not as often as I used to as most of the projects I have are done. As for keeping up with the Jones... fuck them.. I do my own shit.

I don’t even talk to the Jones, only folks that know my tool collections are folks on here and my local friends, I couldn’t give a fuck less what someone I don’t know has in their driveway or shop. I never buy things to impress someone else, with that theory you’ll always be broke unless you’re someone like Bezos lol

He LIVES!!! Welcome back.

The right tool is huge. If it will save hours of frustration, it could well be worth it. Especially if the cost of the tool is less than paying someone who has the tool.

Buying things to impress others is a sure way to go broke.

I'm still trying to figure out my neighbors. They bought the house next to us to "downsize" and the first thing they did was make the house bigger. Added a 3rd garage bay, golf cart bay, gun room and upstairs "storage" area. He was not reluctant to tell me that the addition cost $100k. 5 cars, a golf cart and a motorcycle between the two of them. The Porsche is parked on a white shag rug in the 3rd bay.

He started an exterior house cleaning business so that his son could run it and quit his job at Home Depot. The son bailed on him and he had to find someone else to work for him. I saw him post on Facebook that he is now offering rides to the airport in his Porsche so that people can arrive in style.

So either they need the money (hence offering the airport shuttle), or he is just a work hound and always looking at how to pad the pockets. I can't tell if they are living on credit or in total abundance....
