Other than being serviceable rather than a throw away item I don't think they offer anything over the stock filter.
It helped my 4 banger a ton. I don't think it's as noticeable with the 4.0, but I'm sure it helps some. Just like the secondary air filter removal.

Dude, in my younger years, I almost got stuck trying to hop a median in my Ranger, lol. That would have been a GREAT fail pic.

I hear the help keep water out of your engine... Is this true?

Actually I think he would have been better off with the stock filter as far as keeping water out goes

Pretty funny that Drew's truck is on the banner of TW and TOR at the same time.

K&N or AFE air filter? Discuss.

I have a K&N, and I've had K&N's on many vehicles. I never really noticed a difference in performance. I bought them because I like the serviceability of them. As for keeping water out, I highly doubt it.

I also have E3 plugs, again, didn't notice a damn thing.

If I was to do it all over again I'd probably go with an AFE just so I didn't have to oil it. As for plugs... ehhh.. no opinion really. Something iridium or higher quality just to be on the safe side.

That is pretty amazing despite some janky looking fab work like the rear spring hangers

I've seen that before, that thing will spend its life below ground, kinda cool though. Its a great start, a few things I would have done differently, but its still cool.
Yeah the fab work is effy but the small cummins would be nice for the low end TQ on the trail, that damn thing could do alot just off iddle.
