Nice welds

Nothing like getting a project going and laying down some nice welds to make sure you run out of wire.

Yep that kinda sucked. It was around 8pm and we could have probably finished it that night. I had the plate cut out for the tire mount just needed to cut a few more tubes. I use the 10 lb spools so I rarely peak in there and check how much wire was left. I had a spool of .030 wire but I like to use .035 for projects like these. I used 5/16" plate to tie the spindle mount into the bumper, I'd rather see his frame break off than my tire carrier. My work comes with the tail light warranty, once I can no longer see your tail lights leaving my driveway, the warranty is expired lol

Finished the tire portion of the swingout, may add a jerry can mount at a later date. Was actually alot easier than I had thought. I think the frame will snap before the swingout gives way :D

I used my old welding spool as a template for the tire carrier plate

Ant - I know (when my truck runs) I use my spare as my "bump stop" when backing up so considering that ~ Will that rack handle backing up into something without it hitting/damaging the tailgate? That tire sticks out so far and is so high up I 'd have to think he will be mashing shit on the trails...especially when pulling u turns.

It's about 2.5" away from the tailgate, hard to tell from the pictures. If it deflects that much there's going to be some serious problems. I sat on the swingout when it was full open 90° and it moved the whole bumper and suspension, it would have to be a hard hit to move the swingout; hard enough to move the whole bumper :)

I guess time will tell though. Sometimes you can't fix stupied, I can always redesign it at the appropriate rate if they break it lol

True. I remember backing into a very tall brick wall and slamming my spare then watching the whole wall ripple... could be what cracked the spindle weld... Ill never know - like i said it was/will be once again my "feeler" gauge

Sealed up the new headlights for my sammich maker's Tacoma tonight. I messed up and bought the white silicon so hopefully it is all hidden once installed.
Is your sammich maker white? If so, it should be okay.

I like white toast, but I've been know to eat all types and enjoy each as much as the last. I could go for a stray piece of rye about now.
