Installed some LED light bulbs in my Sammich Maker's Tacoma tonight. She has talked about needing better headlights for at night so we will see how well these hold up.

One down side is I found that the passenger headlight did not seal so water got in there. So that will be on the list to fix.

Thought I was helping a buddy replace the alternator in his Altima. Turns out I was replacing his alternator...

Anyway... Got it done.

I have a buddy like that. He always asks me to "help" him with stuff. It's gotten to the point now where when I get there, I just send him to the store for something random that I tell him I need and then get the job done while he's gone. If I'm gonna have to do all the work for him, I at least want him out of the way while I do it

I have one guy that was like that. He wanted me to teach him how to do an oil change. He didn't lift a finger. He asked me to help him again and I said, "You can use my tools or why don't you call Ralphy (a mechanic I know)." He now knows not to ask now.

I just ordered new Japanese bearings for my SC pulleys - Too bad our idler pulleys were not designed the same way - retained by Circle Clips. :)

I had a co-worker who lived across the street from me when I was first in the AF. Guy was from England (dual citizenship).. anyhow I had changed my oil and he asked to borrow tools/jack to do his. Sure. About 2 hours go by and he comes back over and asks if it doesn't take much oil to put back in.. weird question. I said it should be 4 or 5 quarts. He also asked if the fluid looked 'shiny'. WTF. I go over... he has drained his transmission and put an extra 3 quarts of oil in his engine. LOL.

Maybe he can get a shorter dipstick. Better yet, tell him you know just what to do... Go home, cut and reweld so to 'calibrate it' to it's new level. :) Extra points if you JB weld it. :)

Yep, I rebuilt the all brakes, whole front suspension, steering and new CV's on a friend's Cheby truck. I kinda new I would be doing all or most of the work, I told him to power wash everything down before he brought it over, he didn't, next time I offer to help someone out, and they don't powerwash, I will tell them NO!! Im not working on it. I was a bit pissed even after he bought me extra beer, that beer dosnt wash out the grease on my tools, clothes and shop floor, not to mention all the dirt/sand that falls on you or eyes even with safety glasses.
Spend 10min and powerwash and it saves a lot of wrench time.

On the other hand, I met one of my best friends at a 'mod' meet years ago who got very frustrated installing coil overs and springs that he decided to stop. I said, "You can't quit!" and we worked until midnight. I don't mind helping him at all 'cause he knows how to follow instructions. :) ;)

You would lose your sh*t if you worked with me in my backyard....trucks full of mud and ground is mud/sand lol

Eye glasses and ear plugs are mandatory so stuff doesn't fall into them....and when it gets really bad the old ski goggles and respirator come out

That's ok, your truck is in your backyard, not in my shop, and you didn't ask me for some help.

Knowing your vehicle is not going anywhere and you have to deal with what you have is two different scenarios, and I would help ya if you only lived X thousand miles closer, lol.

It was supposed to be a courtesy, if he wanted me to help him out, at least power wash the damn suspension( all ball joints and steering boots torn and CV's (with both torn boots) grease everywhere or next time he can go and/or also the next person pay $125+ hour in shop labor. I don't think 10min of power washing was too much to ask? Probably saved him $1800 in shop fees.

Ive always told friends if you want mechanics to do a good job, bring them a clean car with a clean engine compartment.

Helped my nephew burn, drill, curse and pray a broken shock mounting bolt out of his early 90's Cheby 1500 in his lower control arm. What a stupid fucking design on Cheby's part. The mounting holes are just square nuts that are welded on the inside of the control arms inside the coil. Just stupid... Luckily we were able to fit a acetylene torch head in there and burn it out enough that we could drill through and tap a new bolt in.

Put new tires on the wifes car, 245/40/20, Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06... great reviews.. have not had a chance to test them out yet though. They look great for what ever that is worth.... not much unless its parked I suppose. :)

Y'all ever see the isolator on a brand new top hat do this?

IMG_20180713_195201.jpg

Dude has been struggling since we put the 5100/885 lift on the front.

He went to Firestone in Irving, who totally screwed his alignment. Then took it to Firestone in Watauga (on my recommendation) and got it within spec.

After the alignment, it pulled to the right. He had discount rotate tires side to side (not cross rotated) and now it pulls to the left. I told him to rotate front to back now and that should fix it. Went to look, just cause, and noticed the isolator looks funny.
