new job allows for 2-3 days a week normally, but now with the corona virus I’m at home every day until this shit blows over. It’s amazing how much stuff you can get done around the house when working from home

I'm stuck working in PA until the gubment stops the exclusions for construction in Philly or NJ puts in place a legally binding "shelter in place" type deal. Good news is - I'm not stuck at home. Bad news is - I'm not stuck at home

the whole damn state is on lockdown now, I made sure I got plenty of beer. Good thing I kept this from my old job in case I get pulled over.
on that note, my buddy came down and we did the power steering rack in his Odyssey. It was leaking like a bitch. First time I had a mini van on the lift, it was a bit emasculating
Made sure to have a few Coronas to celebrate.
I also changed my lights on the front of the house to remember corona with a twist of lime (green on the walkway and yellow on the porch)The colors didn’t come out great on the phone it looks better in person

I have worked on a few cars of friends at my shop, I don’t know about you, but I do have one requirement before they come over with the vehicle, degrease the engine bay/area and/or power wash off the suspension parts, well ok maybe two,
bring Praise Jesus coldbeers. I don’t mind helping someone out, especially since the a hourly rate at a business or dealer can run from $75 to $125 an hour, and parts are jacked up 50%, but I hate turning wrenches on something that’s not mine and it’s covered in fucking grease or every 2 mins dirt/sand is falling into my eyes even with safety glasses.

I noticed your shop door is insulated, who is the manufacturer of that door or link?
Sounds like you should invest in a full face shield. I acquired a couple and they are great when working underneath a vehicle.

Nah, it’s called, I just say no, I’m not available, my shop, my rules.
Full face shields are a good safety measure for your safety when grinding, working over head, and when using compressed air. Your face and eyes... your call. Safety third and all that.

yeah I understand that, I need to replace the one I threw away, but I’m not wearing a face shield to work on someone else dirty ass car/truck if I’m helping them out. The only time I wear one, which is not too often is for grinding or using cutoff wheel.

I’m the same way. Can’t stand working on greasy or rusty vehicles. Also my rule is that I’m letting you use my tools/setup, bring your own gloves, towels, consumables, etc. the heat and electric don’t pay for themselves, so I’m not providing anything else unless you do. Why should I be the one to pay for all that?
they are clopay commercial doors, not sure what the R rating is on then, but it def keeps the place warm even when it’s freezing out. When I open the door it’s crazy how fast the temp will drop!

I usually tell people to bring beer. Anything with the word "lite" in the title will be barred from entry. Usually, they offer some kind of financial benefit.
In fact, I've gotten spoiled to them offering beer and cash that I was a little disappointed when the dude who I just helped change his leaf springs only brought beer. The last guy that came over to change his u-joints and center support bearing gave me $50 and the last lift that I helped install told me that he would feel better if I allowed him to leave me $100. In fairness to the guy last week, he brought beer to drink and beer to leave.

Replaced the intake and exhaust VVT actuators in the girlfriends Equinox. I replaced one of them (I think the exhaust) about 6 mo that ago. The I take went out this time so I just replaced both of them since they were only around $15 each on RockAuto and it's about a 5 minute job. If they go out again, I'll probably replace them with OEM.

Same company I used to work next to for 7 years back in the day when I worked for Alcoa ~ They make good stuff or at least they did 22+ years ago

Put a new seat and pedals on the little ones "ride". She's been riding this thing much more since the 'Rona hit so I got her some better (smaller) pedals and seat that has a bit of cushion to it.

subaru brakes are the easiest Ive ever worked on. the spring clips are a engineering marvel in regards to KISS.
yank out old, put in new with 2 dabs of hi temp grease. no tools needed even after 5 years and 80k in salt belt
