What have you done to your ride lately?

Got another new tire from discount. Also solved the vibrations issues, my front left likes to shape tires in such a fashion that they do the shimmy and shake lol.

You might have a bad shock causing that.

I once posted up a drawing where I would put a slug into the opening of the existing frame as to distribute the load better. Regardless of what we do - this car - sorry, I meant to say 'truck,' was meant to pass crash tests and get the fleet mileage numbers. We all know that this is a shell of what a landcruiser spec truck would be.

Yep I hear you there! I'm slowly on my way to adding more and more metal to it lol

I'll be waiting for pics. :)

I'll be sure to post em up, wish somebody like addicted offroad made front frame reinforcements like they do for the older 4runners and minitrucks

Something along these lines - I'll just make my own then haha. Cutting wheel and drill press FTW

So you're saying there's a chance!
You could also draw up plans of what you make and start selling kits.

Or to me. We are working on a few things - nothing big but some taco pieces - part of the reason for the facelift on the Taco.

sure hope not, just replaced the front ones like last year

Yeah hopefully that's not it. Do you have your old shocks? Maybe try swapping them out?

I have one and I swear 50% of the time its just Toe and Go. They also move you to the absolute back of the bus with regard to 'rushing' your work.

Are you getting a new frame?

Probably. I opened a case with Toyota and they confirmed that my truck will eventually qualify for inspection for the frame rust campaign. The perforation I have next to the driver's side resonator will qualify...

What have I done to my ride? I cussed the 4Runner today. I really needed it to pull some more cut cedars and stumps. I tried to crank it up with no luck. I charged the battery and it cranked but the idle was horrible. I ran the motor at higher RPMs for a couple minutes and the idle cleared up some. I then went to put it in gear with no luck. The clutch is not disengages for some reason. I have fluid and no obvious leaks. Guess I will check a few other things later; as for now I need to get back to the cedars.

At this point I already made the brackets but I guess I could email him and see where it goes. I had emailed 4x innovations a couple months back and they said they were looking into it but never saw anything come of it

Word, I could probably make alot of money considering how weak these front ends are lol

or this.

Here's what I have so far. Wouldn't be to difficult to replicate. Planning on finishing it all up tomorrow.

Goodbye junk 14mm studs from Toyota lol

Cleaned up and drilled out to accept 1/2" hardware

Front sandwich plate that will be welded on along with new grade 8 hardware....mmm sandwich

Outer frame rail gets a 1.5"x1.5" 1/4" thick angle iron. Gussets will be added prior to burning it in to the frame. the bolt you see hanging there by itself will be shown in the next pic. The one body mount I cut off will be rewelded to this angle iron and tied into the other body mount.

Inner frame mount gets a 2"x3" 1/4" thick angle iron. Bolts through existing hole in the frame. Not planning on welding this peice in as it's a PITA to get to lol Gussets will be added to the angle iron though

New crossmember out of 1.5" 1/4" thick square tube with a 4"x2" 1/4" thick angle iron. Gussets will be added to the angle iron. Two additional mounts to the bumper will be drilled to accept the 1/2" hardware

And to seal the deal I'll bolt back on the existing relentless frame brace, probably weld another gusset to it to strengthen it up some as well lol

I think I will rip the frame apart before the bumper mounts bend again :)

That's Mr Asshole to you
Nice work beefing up the front. Still waiting for mine to rip off and need some work.

Thanks. Mines been bent for over a year but I was too lazy to pull the bumper off and go through the work. Bent it pretty bad doing a sideways winching way back and there were no recovery points in front of me. Had to shim the bumper down afterwards since the mounts were facing downward. My bumper should sit a little better now. I'm winding down on my "to do" list for stuff on the truck and this was somewhere down at the bottom haha

First wash in a year.

Immediate rain. Fuck

And power is out at the house. At least its nice out on the patio.

Drink the beer before it gets warm lol

Thanks for the pics. Gonna have to make something similar. I'm still worried about breaking the frame and then having to do something similar to what randy did
