Well today my trail toy 4Runner made it very clear she wants some attention. The battery has a bad cell and the starter keeps sticking. So it looks like she will be towards the top of my winter project list; which it really needed to be anyways. I have been able to jump in it and drive it around earlier this year but had not messed with it since starting my new job 6 months ago. I looked up the battery and it is just a little over three years old. I cannot complain too much for a $130 battery.

I felt a clunk in the Subaru yesterday on my way to a meeting. When I got to the parking lot the first thing I did was put my hand on the wheel to check the temp. Silly Tacoma's and their BS wheel bearings have me trained to immediately think that's the #1 prob after I turned aggressively a few times to see if it was a tie rod going out lol
Is your taco back on the road?

Order a TPMS sensor for the spare on my F150SCREW, I have 5 matching wheels and tires, Discount Tire told it wouldn’t work...
I told them, you will do what I request or I would contact a district manager.... I told them the spares on Ferds don’t have TPMS and I didn’t care about the spare tire pressure before, well guess what, after they installed the new TPMS on my 5th wheel and the 3 other wheels on ground were all reprogrammed, the TPMS system on the truck works, duh only because the spare tire is not longer programmed to truck, what a bunch of dumbasses.

Is your taco back on the road?

Not yet. Going to find a local mechanic to send it to for trouble shooting. This weekend Ill be making sure it's a rolling chassis again and also try to see if my mechanic buddy can stop by to eliminate some of the variables that could be the issue. Ive only got until the end of the year if I need a new frame so time is of the essence.

I had a late night in the shop tonight wrestling with my leaf springs. Hours and many strings of profanity later, I have it all back together and closed the gap that we spotted while coming back from Colorado on my driver side between the main leaf and the second leaf that wraps around. I don’t have a before photo, but on the driver side, the 2nd leaf (and I presume all leafs below it) was shifted forward a bit and we suspected that was the reason for my steering to be slightly off and my truck driving crooked down the highway. I managed to get it pretty dang close and I’ll be replacing these worn out leaf packs eventually anyway.

Hopefully, this will make the truck drive straighter. Can’t test it until I get a new fan clutch in of course, because I removed it to install a new one whenever I get one.

I ordered one of these remotes for $15, so I can reprogram the TPMS to the truck myself, if I rotate the wheels, instead of arguing with a high school dropout that works Discount Tire.

I think my TPMS is inop. When I bought the trailer I bought new rims and matching tires for it... then I bought two more tires and just had two of the older rims and tires put on the trailer (maybe 10k miles on them).. so now the Taco has two tires (and the spare) with a TPMS sensor and two without a sensor at all. No TPMS light. I'm ok with it. I can tell when a tire is low, I have eyes.

That’s good, not a fan of that tpms system, Discount Tire has a whole commercial dedicated to that idiot light. Discount Tire TV Commercial, 'Dramatic Little Friend'

Yeah I'm not a fan either. Mine us currently on because I have my tires set at 65 where they are supposed to be. I need to get into the ecm and change the settings.
