What have you done to your ride lately?

Fuck Toyota and their gay ass day time running lights! Noticed today while changing a burnt out side marker light that my DTRL have started to melt the head light housing. TSB is open but its only for the 3year/30 month shit. Found several threads on it and it appears to be a wide spread issue. Found the signal wire for it and cut that shit. Blinkers and everything else work as usual.

As my metal supplier told me once "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS STAINLESS STEEL! It's only stain resistant" lol I guess he was having a bad day that day.
There are things you can do to decelerate or accelerate the corrosion. We used to always get pissed when we would sell a $30-40,000 heat exchanger with stainless tanks that would start to rust when some idiot cleans it with steel wool. It doesn't take to much extra iron to make the nickel overwhelmed. Sad stuff. :)

Just be glad it's not a Porsche! lol I realize that the 7 was about 2x the price of the truck but damn! That thing is built like a tank compared to the Taco. It's quite, has balls, and is not made cheap by any stretch of the imagination. Too bad it is not a truck but that hasn't stopped me from taking down a good number of trails!!! lol I will never forget one time that we took a 4x4 trail and ran into some folks that thought we were nuts!!! We could not stop laughing. Other than dust and having to use caution and concentration to gain clearance, no damage was done... UNTIL we were fishing with the car on pavement. Out of nowhere a small branch (less than an inch in diameter) broke due to wind and put a dent in the center of the hood! lol

Replace DTRL bulbs with LEDs. Lower operating temps.

I found some of those for sale but the damage is already done. Driver side a little more. It could be worse but this is pretty piss poor. It reminds of some Ford models catching fire from a faulty ignition wire. A lincoln caught fire a few houses down from my in-laws. It happened while parked in the garage on the lady's lunch hour. Whole house was burnt to the ground.

Well once you replace the housing replace the bulbs.

I've discovered that HD radio sucks. My stereo automatically picks the HD station of any FM station you tune into. (This can be turned off and I will do it). But HD sucks! It periodically sounds like it rewinds the music/voices about 1 second... Just enough that you go "am I going crazy or did that just happen". Plus the sound itself is not that good, it's like a really bad MP3... No dynamic range. Anyhow, pretty disappointed.

Hmmm really? The BMW's and porsches cars I used to drive for work had it and it sounded really nice! But it was annoying in that it would lose HD reception and then switch to regular FM and then switch back real quick when it got HD reception.

But I'd imagine on your badass sound system it would be more noticeable.

Mine doesn't have them either. Wasn't it not until like 09 that it was standard?

I was under the impression that Texas required them. As far as I know, they still weren't in use up there when I left in 2010

Taco was dripping oil like an old Harley today. Autometer oil pressure sending unit crapped out. Relatively cheap fix, just need to wait on parts until Wednesday.

Hey! My old '97 Evo does not leak oil; buy my '82 Ironhead is a different story.
