Changed Driver's side parking brake cable, rear axle seal and oring. Changed the diff fluid and no problem there - the picture below shows why I changed the o ring - water mixed with the weaping diff fluid and made the speed sensor not want to go to work in the morning.

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate Drum Brakes? lol :( I have a bruise on my leg from one of the shoe retainer springs popping in to my leg. Apparently, they don't like me either.

And the diff fluid was not emulsified like the stuff that was trapped in the bearing pocket. :)

Good work Roger.

Amazing how much LED's have evolved in the last couple years. I replaced the map lifts and interior light a coupe years ago and they seemed great. Just upgraded (thanks Amazon) for under $25 for both and damn what a difference.

Wow that is nice. In my climate, it would be very hard to justify a $25 spend for dome lights. :) :( God I wish Obama never saw the light of day. Yep, that's how I feel.

The dome light is deceptively small. What I got in the mail is about 1/2 the size of the one I was replacing it with. Its really not a huge difference in brightness compared to the map lights, but it is brighter and again, half the size. There probably are better alternatives out there. But for $10.

As for Obama never seeing the light of day, I agree... his mom should have swallowed.

Funny you mention that, I noticed a grinding noise the other day and felt it in the pedal when braking. Turns out my drums and shoes were shot after 43k miles lol Never in my life have I saw drum brakes go out so early I couldn't believe it. The ones in my old civic lasted 250k. I guess off-roading in muddy water and driving through the brakes in double low gear will do that :o

Got the drums cut at a local machine shop

Good for another 40k hah

I still think it would be a simple affair to bolt on the FJ disc brakes.

I wish that one asshat had just posted a writeup on how he did his rear brake conversion.

Damn Anthony! When I replace mine at ~150k miles, they looked nowhere near as bad as yours.

Lol was that the guy that was all "figure it out yourself! dont' steal my R&D"?

From my friends that work on those things at HDQRS - I would have to change out the Master Cyl and even then the biasing may not be right. I would just say screw it but money and time are not on my side these days.
