How about it.

Get some aluminum and skid it! :) I'm making 3 sets of skids for a rallying 2015 Rav4 right now. :)

No! No! No!.... whole reason I got the car instead of the SUV was to keep it out of the woods. Now it has more tree damage than most "overland" trucks on TW :)

I just need to get off my ass and stop procrastinating on the engine swap. Just found out my transfer case skid is long gone. Dude down the block from me had his house seized and it was there to be extended. Same guy that kept telling me he would do the swap for free. Sad to see people circle the drain like he did, btu to each their own. I helped him plenty of times when he was in rear trouble (bail/car insurance money loans/etc) and now I get a knife in me back. Prob hauled my skid to Camden and got $2 in scrap for it.

Contact the Sheriff and see if there's anything you can do?

Sad to hear.

I still say it would not be hard. Just get a few friends (sober ones ;) ) to help. :)

I had my entire flat belly and half doors stolen.

My "buddy" has walked into/fallen on bad times. Rather not kick him while down. Just rack it up to procrastination costing me once again. Someday Ill learn.

My current set of "friends" suck. If Rich and a few other guys were still around I'd tackle it.

I'm looking up local shops now. I know it's a bad idea, but I have to get it running. Figure even though I have the cash saved up Ill pay via CC so if the work is bad their fraud dept can fight the garage.

At this point if I drag it out any longer I'm just going to throw a F/S sign on it or drive it into a tree and collect the insurance money. I can think of plenty of better things I could invest in with about 15-20k cash in hand vs a lawn ornament that gets me nothing but more and more rust.

Picked up the wire I need to do the "Big Three" mod for my alternator and to wire up my dual battery & system.

Diehard Platinum's are nowhere to be found now so two new Odyssey batteries on their way today. So pissed at the Sears CEO. Fuck that guy

Big thanks go out to Drew, Randy and especially Rob for coming over this weekend and knocking out the shit on the motor of the trail rig that needed to be done. Mainly we watched Rob work and drank beer and handed him tools. But "we" managed to replace the following on the trail rig. Oil pump, water pump, timing chain and cover, install new plug wires, loom, rotor and cap. Also installed new radiator , silicone hoses and shroud. Took a couple hour detour to try and get a 2 speed Taurus electric fan to work but it just didn't line up. But she didn't line up so clutch was back in. All and all she runs 10x better and I owe a great gratitude to them for coming over and helping out. Thanks guys!

Wish I could have made it. But work wouldn't let me out to play this weekend. I need to do most of this same stuff to my truck soon.

Spent a couple hours today replacing the trans cooler on my new 4Runner in the shade. I noticed yesterday driving it around that the trans temp ran around 180 and jumped quickly and stayed at 195 when accelerating/going up hill. I did some research and agreed that this is higher than it should be so I put on the B&M 70628 cooler I had already.

First pic: I had to make shade.

Second - the previous owner installed a Haynes cooler but most of it was below the grill. This was not working very well.

Third - the B&M cooler mounted up higher behind the grill and keeps the trans temps cooler but not where I am thinking they need to be. Disclaimer - it is over 100 degrees today. The truck warmed up quickly to 120 degrees. Once I got it out cruising it stayed at 150 degrees. The problem is still that once it was under acceleration it crept up to 180 and did not come back down. I am wondering/thinking that the cooler is not able to keep up with the transmission. So I guess the question is if I need to install a bigger cooler or is this just a +100 degree issue that will go away once the temps go down. The second concern is that this cooler will not keep up on the trails once it gets there. So should I go B&M 70266 that is rated for 20,000 btu up from the 13,000 the 7026 is.

Comparison pics of the two coolers. The thin one is the Hayden cooler. Kind of a joke if you ask me.

The Hayden extends further left.

Do the 4Runners have a trans gauge from the factory or is it an aftermarket gauge the PO installed?
