Anyone have any thoughts on this "weird noise"? I replaced the nosecone tonight for the 200k mile service. When I was taking off the old nose cone the assembly came out a little bit; but not much. Once I put it all back together I have this almost rattling coming from the supercharger. It makes solid boost still and gets a little quieter with RPMs; but I still feel pretty uneasy about it.



Guess I need to get the bearings for the back and take it off to replace those next. One thing after another....

If you have a rattling coming from the SC I wouldn't drive it until it was diagnosed. Just me.

Understand - but I don't have a choice tomorrow. I drove it around the block a couple times and it got quieter with RPMs.

Found this on Gadget's website -

The supercharger does make noise, it is supposed to. Under boost it will make a wonderful whine sound that most find very pleasant. At idle it will make a rattling like sound. That is from gear slack in the nose drive. The supercharger uses straight cut gears in the nose drive and at idle there is no load on the gears that they tend to rattle back and forth a bit and that presents as a rattling sound. It should go away if the engine is rev-ed up just above idle. This is all very normal. As the supercharger ages the rattle sound at idle may get louder. I replaced my nose drive at 65,000 miles and the rattling sound was greatly reduced.

Best I can tell my S/C has almost 160k miles on it and probably has not been overhauled yet. Looks like I need to pick up some bearings and build this sucker soon. At least it will just be getting some bearings and oil again.

Got the new projector headlights in. They look great and are bright as shit. Just need to wait for it to get dark to aim them.

Swapped the front diff passenger seal tonight. A 45 minute job took me 2 hours!!! Fucking could NOT get the lower control arm to line back up.

Well son of a beotch... Seal is still leaking. Not as bad. But a drip. Damn it! Ordered a new seal and will do it again. Yeah me! Not sure why it's leaking. It's in straight, axle is in good. Maybe I tapped it in too far? Guess I get to try again and see if I can do it in under 2 hours this time.

If it makes you feel any better, my truck's sympathetic reaction has fully engaged - Mine is leaking again too.

Installed the new races in my D60 hubs and assembled my 35 spline chromos. Installed my longfield bushings in my spindles. Now I'm stopped for a drink or 6.

If nothing it is bad juju for my shipping. I still need to find just the lower intake gasket. Everyplace I have looked sells just the set for $40 and way up. Anyone know where I can get just the one?

Built a new subframe beam and new 1/4" horn mounts for my front bumper. I'm waiting on the paint to dry and then I'll burn everything in.
