What have you done to your ride lately?

did I miss all that sex?

I've got em dialed in pretty good on the road and I have a little rubbing to get sorted out.

I also realized I fucked up and should've gotten 14" 700# coils instead of 13". So I'll be ordering those soon.

Well, I have just been schooled on the idea of the ATO shackle flip kit for what I want to do. I may even go back to the stock deal. Long story but schooled by someone that has great insight on such things. Too bad things aren't always as easy as they seem. :(

Is it bc the flip kit is too unstable at speed?

Curious do you or anyone else for that matter know how to setup tension shackles, can't find much info on them other than people swapping them out to compression. They seem like a great way to lower the front of my truck some and run a spring with more arch and a softer rate to gain more usable wheel travel.

lol :) :( Got text back... It's more complicated than a text message. He is out in the desert testing for the next 2 weeks. But from what I know - or what I really now need to say, 'Think I know...' Spring rates get varied due to the manipulation of the spring. Think of a spring with no shackle - what spring rate would it have verses if you moved the end pins closer together - you pre-load the spring and therefore change the spring rate.

The biggest thing I learned yesterday is how much I DON'T KNOW. :)

And Sean is right - the thing I want most is stability at speed. The higher, the better - while still soaking up the bumps. :)

One last deal... as we were talking about compression set ups - the last Toyota chase truck he dialed in, he just used a stock leaf and went to Deaver and had them add 1 AAL and tuned the shocks. One of his general comments was, "Just because they sell it, doesn't mean it works well!" lol Boy aint that the truth. What immediately came to mind was the Front Range transfer case eating cross-member. :)

Well it'll be good only for a set amount of time. In his case, it'll go bad A LOT sooner than normal

Think I found a sort of answer

It at least gives you a reference to determining shackle length and approximately hanger location. The actual static ride height shackle angle seems to be irrelevant so long as the shackle stays within its working range as the suspension cycles and doesn't have to go too far past vertical at full bump.

One of the issues is one of giving up caster as a result of 'added' travel and stink bug stance.

So you're saying there's a chance!
Changed the brake pads this week. One was almost down to metal to metal contact. I forced my 13-yo step son to "help" and learn about brake systems. So after begrudgingly helping and listening to me talk about how brakes work he says "Wow, I actually learned some stuff tonight.... not that I'll ever need it; but I learned it." SMH

That's pretty much what my redneck buddy told me when we were setting mine up. All the web wheelers were saying the angle was poop. My buddy took it for a quick drive, flexed it out, and gave it his approval.

Thanks for making him learn that stuff. He'll be thanking you in the future for sure. Wish I had someone that showed me how to do that stuff at that age! He's young and there's plenty of time for his interests to change.
