What have you done to your ride lately?

Got home from school and my new battery was here. Got the old one out and the new Odyssey in only to realize I ordered the wrong battery. Terminals on the new battery are at the front side of the battery instead of the back and the cables don't reach. Should have ordered the reversed terminal battery so I could spin the battery around. Oh well. Guess I'll get some cable extensions tomorrow.

Took off work early since my boss was out and I realized I have 2 weeks of vacation to use. Test drove a Subaru outback for my wife since her lease is up soon. Nice car but still need to look at a few others.
Got home and changed diff fluids and rotated the tires. My rear fluid didn't look to bad I expected it to be more honey color with only 31k miles.

@TacoXpo post about washing his cabin filter made me remember that I haven't replaced mine in awhile. I expected it to be dirty but not this dirty...

Soooo change your cabin air filters ya filthy animals...

Mine too...

Might sound nutz, but if you think it sounds like rocks in your blower motor, probably not rocks, but it's time to change your cabin filter! lol

How did you like the interior? I still feel like they are way behind in the game in tech department for the price they're asking.

It was the limited trim with some convience package that had all the options. I thought it was nice but for slightly more money I could probably get into a Lexus or another Acura.
I will say that I got into a Forester after driving the outback and the Forester felt like garbage on the inside. Still need to look at the RDX, RX350, CRV, Rav4 and highlander.

Yeah I drove the 2015 WRX and the 2015 Crosstrek and both of the interiors and infotainment systems would've been state of the art in 2007.

Are you buying or lease?

Probably going to buy this time. The lease has worked out well for her Acura since it just turned 20K miles on a 30K mile lease.
The plan is I want to take over what we get her when my 4 runner is paid off. That way it will not have to be a daily driver and she can get something new. Figure that will be 3 years but may wait till both are paid off.

That's what I love about my 2015 Impreza. 18k car and no bullshit automated crap. I got the sport which is the base model with roof rack side bars. It has heated seats/windsheilds/mirrors and that's all I need besides am/fm/Pandora. Could of paid 14k more for a WRX but at the price they get for them I could of almost gotten 2 base models.

BTW the Crostrec or XV or whatever they call it is the exact same car as an Impreza with a 3" body/suspension lift and worse MPG. I looked at them but didn't see any need to spend more to spend more on the highway all for 3" extra ground clearance.

and I wouldn't put subaru into any category besides their own. All their tech is old besides eyesight - look at their client base (all seem to be silverhairs).

ALSO - their AC blows and not in the cold way. You guys may not be close to happy down there with it.

I once did a 6 hour assessment of something like 100 cars and SUVs for a marketing company. Funny thing was my favorite car ergonomically was the MDX. If the RDX is anything like it and your body/sense of where controls should be is any thing like mine, it would be a fine car to drive for 30k-200k miles. :)

Have you cleaned the filter(s)? lol ;)

Not sure how they compare but I really like the TL we have now. At the end of the day we will probably end up with a Rav4, Highlander, or CRV. Cheaper than the luxury versions but still nice. V6 highlanders are $30K and the Lexus version(RX) is $12K more.

I meant to post those pics of the mouse nest.... Ill be doing it much more often now. My cabin air filter was pretty bad but not as bad as Tacolocos. His should win an award.

I had to visit a customer office that is off a rough dirt road first thing this morning. On the way out I noticed a pretty solid banging under the back of the 4Runner. I pulled over to find the top bolt for the rear passenger shock had jumped ship. So I removed the shock and bought some good replacement parts. I was suspicious of the bolt and nut when I did the axle swap with @tex and this confirmed it.

Yeah I just felt that for $40k for a WRX, you should get a nicer interior. But once my wife sat in the showroom floor car at Volvo, she was sold. The comfort, MPG and safety were all exactly what she wanted.

I checked out the Volvo 60 SUV and they were proud of those and a good bit more than we want to spend. She has now asked about a Pilot so there is something else to look at. As long as its not a fugly Ridgeline.

Just got back from offshore last week and have been working on 2.0. Installed the sliders and mounted the cab close to where it will end up. Ended up frenching them in a couple inches into the rockers.

Also got the front lowers tacked in place.

Currently tearing down the doner and should have the drivetrain mocked in place by the end of the week. Lots of work to do by February.

Yep, they sure are and it's hard to find used ones as well.
