I learn as I go
I've drilled all the way through the bolt and tried using one of those EzOut extractors. Can't get it to grip good enough to make it budge. Can you drill it and use an EzOut? Which bolt is it?

It's been a complete pain in my ass. I've got a friend who hopefully will take a look at it soon. But I've been wondering if my final option is just to drill it out and tap it larger. Just not sure where to go to get that done. I don't have the tools to do it.Ewww.. that looks like a bitch. Maybe some PB Blaster, let it soak and then hit it with some heat (torch) and try to get it out again. I suppose you could drill it out larger and tap the hole with something larger.

Did you see my photo of the same?I had the lugnut break! It was a cheap Gorilla locking lugnut and the top of it just broke off. I had to drill it out... what a PITA! Since then I only run McGard non locking splined lugnuts.
I'll have to look again. I didn't think there was a way to get it from the top.You might be able to get it from the top. I forget it's been so long since I messed with those bolts.
I don't think so. I think it's too flush. That is an option I've considered, and I talked to a friend of mine about trying it, but I haven't had a chance to do it and don't have high hopes it'll work.can you weld a nut to the end of it and back it out? Ive had to do that several times.

Or just weld the skid on.![]()

as long as its flush, it should take the weld just find. If its too far below flush, then the weld wont work. I usually find a nut close to the size of the bolt, use a pair of needle nose vice grips to hold the nut, place it on the sheared bolt and fully weld the entire damn thing on the inside of the nut. Let it cool some then see if you can get a wrench on it to extract it. it may take a time or two to get it to work. Just an option.
On those two, I have a bolt going through the cross member with a finder washer and nylock nut on the other side.I've drilled all the way through the bolt and tried using one of those EzOut extractors. Can't get it to grip good enough to make it budge.
I appreciate all the thoughts and recommendations. I'll see if I can get over to my friend's shop and get the weld option to work. I may try the extractor one more time for good measure as well. Somehow that damn thing is going to come out.
