What have you done to your ride lately?

Well.. its time. :) You got your moneys worth out of it. I replaced mine about 13k miles ago at 90k. They felt fine but I was in there doing the CV rebuild, replacing the LCA's and thought, "WTF. lets do it". :)

I didn't pay that much for my OEM replacements... its been 6 months or more though. I don't recall the total price because I had just bought TC LCA's and they are stupid $ so at that point I was in it to win it. Not to mention the RCV axle rebuilds which was not cheap. Fuck the boots were more $ than you can buy a replacement cv axle at VatoZone. Granted the VZ axle won't last. I spent way more than expected. But honestly, buy it once. Or maybe you buy it 2 or 3 times depending on how long you own it. Still better than replacing it multiple times.

Check out TRDParts4U.com for parts. They sell them at a decent discount online and ship them anywhere. People buy Toyota because of the great quality and long lasting hardware. Then they replace the OEM parts with cheaper aftermarket parts that do not have as long of life and good quality.

There are some parts I do not think you need OEM for; but steering and braking are pretty important in my book.

I don't think they sell tie rods.. TRD parts website just shows a lot of aftermarket accessories. I checked the Toyota of Dallas website and they have it listed for $122. I'll probably go ahead and spend the money, I just wasn't expecting it to be that much more than aftermarket parts.

X1000000 Can't emphasize this enough. I mean you got 130k out of the OEM parts. That's pretty damn good in my book.

I bought some Moog ball joints (back when I had the stock LCA's) and the damn things had a hole for the zirk but it wasn't threaded and too shallow to thread with a tap and die set. I had to get a similar sized bolt and make my own tap... sucked. and they wore out in about 25k miles or so.

I've heard a lot of horrible things about MOOG lately, mainly about the tie rod ends.
Like I said, wasn't planning on getting the duralast, just used that name as an example. Every aftermarket part I've seen for tie rods has been under $35, while OEM was $130. Found OEM on Amazon, figure I may just order it there. Unless theres another place that's got a slightly better deal.

I recently ordered a bunch of parts from Toyota Parts - Genuine OEM Toyota Parts & Accessories Online

But if it's the same price on Amazon, I'd just get it there.

lol I had the same issues when I did mine with those stupied zerk fittings.

Also once you put a Moog BJ on your LCA they made their version with a wider diameter BJ than OE so once you get it on you have no room to press it off "when" it goes bad. Pretty slick on their side - now you need to get a whole new LCA when the BJ goes bad. When I was doing mine years ago I forgot to mention that. Wonder how many people are screwed now?

I replaced my lower BJ with Moog, but I had a shop press it in for me. Didn't seem like they had any trouble with it. But now I'm all nervous.. gee thanks guys. haha

That's the kind of thing you can only pick up when DIY'ing that stuff. When I did my BJ's the resources were very limited and most people (including Toyota) would just replace the entire LCA. Now many people have much better ways to do it then the threads I wrote up. I just looked up my original DIY post and it was back in 2011 lol Link to it is within this DIY DIY LCA Bushing Replacement 2005+ Tacoma (4x4)

They pressed it in? Hmm.. didn't think of that. It appeared to be threads so I didn't think to try and just force it in.
