What have you done to your ride lately?

That's Mr Asshole to you
Well I am NOT leading. I think since you have done the trail before its your place. :)

As for FJ friends.. you know.. I think I only have 2. But they are lacking in the light department. I'm trying to show them the "light"! LOL
Im good to lead but dont blame me if we dont find who invented the tooth brush. And driving around at night is not something I have interest in doing. I would like to have a few hours at camp to get it set up and explore on foot or fish.

Driving home from San Antonio today my steering wheel was bouncing back and forth pretty rough for most of the ride. I know that one of my tires got pretty jacked up when my shock bushing went out a few months ago. I did have Discount Tire rotate and balance afterwards though. They were supposed to put the bad tire on the drive tire spot.

So I got home today and pulled all four tires off. I found this beauty on my driver front. It is now on the back passenger spot. I test drive afterwards and it handles like a much better rig. Now I can focus on getting ready for the Ozarks.

If that is a discount tire and you have the certs, I would have them prorate the tire and get a new one anything over 3.5 to 4oz of weight for a tire like is a defect, I have done it twice in the past with no problem

I'm usually out in the shop while they balance the tires, making sure it's right, just bring a pair of safety glasses with you. Customers are able to stay within the painted lines along as you wear safety glasses.

These tires are getting down to the last 10-15,000 miles so there is not much left to pro rate. Plus there is no mileage guarantee on the Hankook MTs. I am debating switching back to the KO2 in the same size for my next set of tires. I just need to compare the basic weight and physical dimensions first. I just hated the way my old KO2s threw rocks all the time.

Don't you just hate it when a sharp piece of rebar goes through the sidewall of your tire? Hell, sometimes the hole is even the same size as a screwdriver lol

Take a look at the Toyo A/T's. They clean out the treads around 10mph so you don't get bad rock chips. I ran three sets of em got at least 50k miles out of each set. They should be cheaper than the KO2's and perform better offroad IMHO.

How are they for heavy daily driving on road? My work mileage is going down but it is still hovering around 25-30,000 miles a year.

Edit: Did not see the Toyo tires in a 235/85/16 size.

Sweet mother of Mary...do you get mileage reimbursement? how much? If its less than the gov't rate you can claim the excess on your tax return! Ex: 2016 gov't rate=.54 , work reimburses .50; .54*25,000=$13,500 <.50*25,000>=$1,000 additional deduction. Clear as mud?

I used to do a straight write off but now I get a partial reimbursement for some trips so it is more complicated. It sucks. A lot.

Just track total mileage, then reduce the total mileage deduction by the amount of reimbursement...easy peasy

I have friend in sales, travels a lot, like this 25k + miles per year. He got audited and the IRS wanted breakdown/log on the days worked, his calendar was his only log to what places he visited and was not detailed enough, so basically you if your working that day create a log entry for the mileage and gas receipts.

I have done this in the past but am looking into a few options to try to resolve my current high mileage situation. \

This is close to what happened to my father-in-law when he got audited. Thankfully he had another detailed way to audit his miles so he did not get hit too hard.

Anyone ran Hankook DynaPro ATMs before? They are more A/T tire than the MT and about $40 cheaper than the Hankook MT each.

Well he got a good cpa now in Houston, I think the car he uses now is under wife's business, he leases the car from her business and only used it for his business, he keeps detailed logs and writes off a portion of lease payments and mileage. His wife's business claims the 5 years worth of depreciation against the car, which she is able to write off a portion too, sounds like a scam, but they are following IRS rules.

I have looked at them this past week, I was wanting to upgrade the wife's LX tires to something like these

All the intelligent reviews I am finding on them seem pretty good. They say they a not great in mud but that makes sense since they are an AT tire.
