Darkening of the window, the more heat is absorbed
So the idea of tinting windows to keep UV and absorbed heat out is false?
Ceramic window tint reflects UV rays reducing heat. Black decals absorb heat
Shade can override UV blocking capabilities. Basically can't have your cake and eat it to. Darker the tint - hotter it gets. You can get real light tint that blocks 99.9% of UV and it will allow less heat to transfer than a darker tint with same UV blocking specs.
Tint is always on the top of my list next to Weathertech floor mats.I have been thinking about getting my 4R tinted darker to knock down the heat that enters the interior. My biggest issue has been trying find the time and extra cash to get it done.
All of my buildings have that security film on them. Every single window...At work they tinted (not really a tint, more of a film) all the exterior ground level windows/door with some stuff that helps stop window breakage and prevents x-ray vision from seeing through it.
Note: One of the statements above is false.![]()

I do not know of any leaded films, but I wouldn't doubt someone makes it. I have Tru-View 5% on my windows. It's supposed to block 93% of UV rays coming in. You can't see in at all during the day and it makes it a little harder at night unless the lights are on.The windows on my house are all coated with a greenish UV coating that does a real good job of cutting down the heat that passes through. They are a bit harder to see through during the day and moderately difficult at night.
Don't forget the tire shine!I've been driving the wifes car since she is out of town. Sounds like what I do with the truck. Still there.. still dirty. Good chance of rain this weekend so maybe I'll pull it into the drive for a shower.
What is this tire shine you speak of?
My discount tire wouldn't touch my wheel spacers. I always had to take off my tires, load em up in the diesel and then take them down to discount tire. On the plus side, they usually got to them right away since they didn't have to take them off the truck. It was a prime motivator for me to get rims once I got a full time jobDropped the 4Runner off at (gulp) Discount Tire for new 285/75/16 DuraTracs...I gave the salesman a long talking to (after he said he would price match the $100 off of every $400 deal) about torque specs and wheel spacers. I still want to throw up in my mouth...but I'm paying less than $800 out the door for all 4 installed.
