What have you done to your ride lately?

I agree, but my Santa is very frugal and gets in a very bad mood with money spent on the truck. Unless I happen to win some in TOR Christmas (@tx_shooter ;)) as a late entry or possibly next year, those will have to wait.

TOR Santa is always up for working something out. As long as we all tell the same story, right? You donate them, TOR Christmas randomly draws, You randomly win them.

But even my sammich maker commented how the ride over speed bumps and uneven dirt roads seems nicer now with the new UCAs. I think a lot of it is new bushings vs old clapped out bushings but if she is okay with it I am happy.

Added some camo tailgate glam to the tow pig. She's been running better than ever so figured I'd treat her to an early Christmas present lol

You know how I know you need to hang with the old wheeling crew again?

You now have barbed wire license plate holder, camo text on the truck, personalized plates and you bought a Ford.... going downhill quick man. Next thing you know youll be chewing skoal and shooting things with shotguns... wait...wut lol

What happened to you Sat? Kyle said you were coming down. I need to remember to invite people when I set up camping trips.

lol well as a partial defense, the barbed wire holder came with the truck and they are not personalized plates I guess they just realize I be hatin' haha. And actually I quite all forms of nicotine, currently 1 week without any dip been a rough couple of days here. I had a family party saturday afternoon it started at 330 wasn't sure what time it was going to get done but by the time I got out (she lives up near you in blackwood) it was almost 10pm so by the time I would have went back to my place and made it to the campsite it would have been midnight. Yeah let me know more than 12 hours in advance and if I'm off I'm always down to camp.

BTW I also found your fuel pump, and I have another dead taco at my house, sunk the other night up in Lacey and fried the ECM. Waiting on a replacement, so for now we'll add another yota to the boneyard

wow that sucks.

Yeah it was a mess. Water up to the bottom of the seats it filled up his cupholders in the center console. We've all crossed it before, but I guess he must have hit something and gotten snagged up. Of course it would be when it was 25* out and snowing. Here he successfully crossed it at the 1:15 mark.

Here you can see not so successful lol

yep now we have to find a used 2009 V6 airbag computer and ECM. lol

He got hung up on something, I have a video but it's tough to see because his headlights were on. I just got finished uploading all my videos from the phone. He must have hit something underneath and gotten snagged up. The truck was running for a while, we were trying to figure out recovery options. Originally tried a snatch strap on his front ARB bumper (no recovery points) so we looped the strap around the headlight hoops. He was too stuck for that, we ended up bending the ARB bumper lol. Then I crossed the puddle/lake with my truck and tried to yank him backwards with a snatch strap, which also proved unsuccessful, as he was just too wedged in there and we weren't getting enough bite with the recovery trucks because of the snow. So the final and successful recovery was winching him backwards using my truck. Of course while we were figuring this out his truck was filling up with water and it shut off at some point through the recovery which complicated matters even more (no power steering plus his steering wheel was turned full left and no extra little help with the skinny pedal on his end). He was probably submerged in that puddle for a good 15-20 minutes before we were finally able to get him out of there. Fortunately no water in the engine so no hydrolock, the snorkel saved that part, you can see in one of the videos when I winching him backwards he's cranking and the water shoot out of the exhaust like a fire hose lol

That is awfully cold water to be messing around in. It just looks cold from here.

water was cold as shit, and unfortunately the change of clothes he had was in the bed and also got soaked. Ended up using a blanket I had in my truck and let him sit on the passenger seat which has a wet okole seat heater; helped dry and warm up a bit but I can imagine that water was cold as shit. My hands were numb just connecting the snatch straps and winch up.

Tried to restart truck to no success so then resorted to calling AAA and he got a tow to my shop. Only code at the time was P2103 for throttle body and it would only run in limp mode so we swapped that out and it didn't fix anything; same symptoms P2103 and would only run in limp mode. We then took the ECU out and it had a few cups of H20 in it lol, so we dried out the interior and that's where we are currently at with the situation. After trying to plug the ECU back in we had over 30 codes for the CEL LOL! The blower motor also shorted out and blew the fuse.

How to fix that truck:

1) Clean web of pics
2) Report to insurance company
3) Deposit claim check and buy another truck

Insurance would write that off in a second. If he soaked his ECU he soaked every single connection and they will be going bad as they corrode over the next few years.

If these new Tacomas had door seals half as good as the door deals on my 81 Yota there would not be any issues. Sucks.

I ordered a new wheel bearing hub assembly a while back. Just got the email confirmation that it is shipping. I had forgot all about it!

Part of the issue is that US consumers can't handle the buffeting that happens in really sealed vehicles. Think about the bugs that when the windows were at a certain level, your ears would hurt!!! lol

All our Tacos have a big ass vent in the rear that's somewhat high. I'm not saying seal it hermetically, but if you remember my days of cleaning my swamped truck, Tacoma's are sealed like crap. Whole design of the gasket and it's placement is completely absurd for a truck that has a "Offroad" sticker on it from the factory. Ive never seen any newer international models like a Hilux, but I suspect they are different. No way Australians would stand for such crappy ability to fjord water.

But if you could selectively (ARB lol) close it, put a super strong fan in the HVAC and turn it on, you could theoretically have a dry cab during crossings. As my Turbo-machinery Prof. always said, "It all has to do with differential of pressures!!! :)
