One more reason I love the Taco. Replacing the Fan Controller for the Taco was about a 10 minute job. The Bimmer? Did that one today. It was about a 90 minute job! Center console, and all the center part of the dash - Had to remove fan to reinstall the fan controller. So nice to have AC again!

The thermister? I had Kenna do it for me in about 10 minutes. She fits under the dash WAY better than I do. I pulled the glovebox (60 seconds) just to all me to watch a little better and give her more light.

Just noticed the famed Taco tick in my Subaru this weekend when I had the heat on and I'm not happy. 3 year old car with almost 50k on her so I guess I "should be" happy it took much longer than the Taco did to eat through the plastic bushings....I am not

So I had a small vibration yesterday when driving over 60 mph in my 4Runner. Today I took it to get the tires rotated a little early at 4k miles. First rotation since all the front end work.

Still vibrated on the way home. I checked all the bolts associated with the IFS axle swap - all tight. The passenger CV boot decided to puke its guts sometime in the last few days as well. So I removed the front driveshaft and went for a test drive. The shakes continued so I am assuming the CV axle is the issue.

Guess I am shopping for a boot kit now or just getting a cheap Oreilly's CV until I can take the time to rebuild both my OEM CV axles right.

I was thinking that too; but I dropped the front axle and it kept it up. Or are you thinking rear driveshaft u joints?

Yeah could definitely be the rear shaft. Put the front shaft back on, pull the rear and go for a drive.

Was thinking about it on the drive into work this morning. I will probably swap the bad CV this weekend and test it out more. It could be the rear shaft u joints; I have no clue when they were last changed.

Rebuilt some Icon shocks I got for super cheap. Getting the 700# springs today and will hopefully install everything this evening.

Bingo. Mine were a bisnatch to get out. Would have been much easier with a press. I turned a 3/4 deep well socket into a short well

I have one of the better c clamps with a electric impact. U joints are a half hour job now

I rebuild pumps, motors, actuators, and such at work, so for me it was basic. It really is basic, all there is are o-rings seals. You have to get the right amount of oil in or the shock won't operate correctly, and just pay attention to the disassembly, cuz its easy to screw up. It's also very easy to get right as long as you are paying attention to the order.

I spoke too soon. This mother was seized like a sombuck. I ended up cutting the cross out and pushing the caps out with the ball joint press. I cleaned everything up and put a fresh coat of flat black everywhere that was rusted prior. I should have bought a lotto ticket today - the cheap broken bolt extractor kit worked like an "As Seen on TV" commercial on getting the snapped off zerk fitting out of the drive shaft. Both drive shafts were reinstalled and everything got enough grease pumped in to get some black crude shoved out. The test drive was great; only issue was I had to hold off swapping CV axles today since it kept trying to rain on me in the drive way.
