One of the last articles I read on the new Tundra quoted Toyota as saying the big vehicles will start having more and more common drive trains. They did not say if that was internal to Toyota only or across the board with Toyota sharing parts/motors with Lexus. The new setup going to the Tundra is supposed to be from Lexus.

Have heard the same. The twin turbo engine from the LS 500.

About 10yrs too late...and expect another 2yrs of problems after production.

Speaking of turbos, I just received my shipping confirmation that my upgraded turbos will be here next week!

I have more confidence in it since it has been in production for a while in the LS, so at least it isn't a brand new engine. Even so, there will be kinks to be worked out. It is behind the times, and I hope that they catch up soon.

What turbos did you go with? And are you trying to get @Silverback with the fever? You know he still hasn't modded his new powerstroke...:stick:

More weight, heavier loads, different coolant specs, different transmissions and gears etc.

Just cause it works in one platform doesn't mean it’s going to be smooth transition to another, the consumers will put the real test on the durability and never buy 1st year of any new power plant in any auto.

I am good although I am thinking about putting some Husky Liner mud flaps on it. Is that a mod? On TW I bet it is.. I know removing them is a "mod" over there.

Mine isn't the first year of this power plant... and this dipshit in Canaduh has tested that motor.. albeit at the risk of others on the highway IMO. 12% grade with 45,000 lbs.

Edit...No... Google-Fo thank you!

The 6.7L Power Stroke initially employed a unique single sequential turbocharger (SST) which features a dual compressor and single turbine setup affixed to a common shaft. The unit was replaced by a single Garrett GT37 variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) for the 2015 model year, subsequently increasing horsepower and torque in combination with additional upgrades. The SST returned to the Power Stroke for the completely revised 2017 model year Super Duty; torque reached an all time high at 925 lb-ft. Both horsepower and torque were once again increased for the 2018 model year, peaking at 450 hp and 935 lb-ft, respectively. Ford suggests that software adjustments, cylinder head improvements, and increased turbocharger boost are responsible for the increases

I'll be honest though.. I'd like to know how a VGT would do in the new 6.7. Reason is that from a dead stop if you stomp on it, the acceleration is lackluster... once she spools up she gets the fuck out of the way but she needs some R's to do so.

They must have done a mid-year deal cause those numbers you posted for 2018 are the same ones rated on my 17. I put one of those stealth tune deals on mine and the tiny bit of turbo lag is gone now even with the 35s
