Co-worker picked up his 2020 TRD-PRO 4Runner in green on Monday. Good looking vehicle. He wants to put sliders and skids on it ASAP. Then a lift.. at least he has the series of how it should be done right.
Tell him to Invest in a supercharger 1st, that turd engine they have is asthmatic and cant handle the extra weight lol

Not worth the price for the HP gain you get...

The 4R really needs a Duratec 35 motor, 3.5L EcoBoost V6 with upgraded Garrett Twin Turbos ~600hp and only a $2k upgrade for F150’s

Spent the afternoon working on the fun car...

Hardwired the radar detector cause I hate having the cable fly around the dash. I mounted a remote mute switch, and adjusted the air conditioner temperature control so hopefully it won’t get stuck anymore. I also removed the burnt out light bulb from the HVAC control panel (was a total pain in the ass) and now just have to wait til I can get new bulbs. Got a strut tower brace coming on Tuesday and then I need to do the 60,000 mile maintenance items sometime soon.

I have been debating the HVAC bulb replacement but everyone says they are a pain in the ass to get to. Think I will hold off until two or the three are dead.

Opened the holes holding up my aftermarket rubber between fender well and frame. Opened up the holes and used some GM Christmas tree deals. 10 c each

Plugged up my mud scoops using an old flare and plumber's ABS glue.

I already had part of the console removed so it was a no brained to go ahead and replace them. Definitely not enjoyable on this car though

Little too much fun last night so taking it easy and digging into paperwork today.

Does "the latter" refer to the longest timeline allowed (12 years) or the last listed option (1/31/19)?

50% of me thinks longest time - other 50% that overthinks & is hungover, has me wondering if it's the last listed option....:borra2:

Whichever is longer . So 12 years from 2008 or till 2019; whichever is longer. You should have till 6/2/2020 to get the frame checked.

I must of tricked myself into thinking 2020 was it, so that when I procrastinated as usual I still had some time lol

I forget when I got that letter, but it was a looooong time ago.

What's going on with the re-engine?

Got a bunch more progress done on the truck this weekend. Really only worked on it for a few hours saturday and I'll be travelling for work this week so hoping to have it wrapped up next weekend and ready to drive again.

Drivetrain is re-installed.
wiring harness re-routed and all the connectors are plugged in
Transmission, crawl box, and t-case oil is changed.
Shifters are re-installed in the cab
Cross-member is bolted back up
New slave cylinder is connected, clutch fluid is flushed and bled.

For anyone with the 6-speed, I'd highly recommend this upgrade over the stock setup, seems to be very good quality. Time will tell once I get some road time under my belt, but all the reviews I've read says this kit is superior to the OEM setup. I was also able to eliminate the clutch accumulator along with a bunch of unnecessary tubing going from the clutch reservoir to the slave cylinder (rubber hose and long bendy hard line) so it cleaned the engine bay up a bit back by the firewall.

Things that are left are:
re-connect driveshafts
re-connect exhaust
torque remaining crossmember and transmission mount bolts
re-install center console

Funny post this. On a related issue, I will be replacing the short hard lines to the calipers with a single SS braided lines - :)

Please note the shop safety policy allowing barefoot operation of the forklift. It's important for driver control! lol

On another note, I wish I could get some of the bargains that were available when that race campaign stopped. What did you pay for that one? :)

No action/movement made in months. Buddy who helped with the swap was just breaking my stones this weekend saying that the gas was going to go bad so we had better jump on it again.

Only item that's new is I thought I missed the frame recall date, turns out I did not and Ive got 3 more months left.
