Took advantage of the good weather today and worked on the truck. I got the driver side suspension torqued down and everything double and triple checked. Then I installed everything on the passenger side, torqued it down, and got it all buttoned up. Slid the steering rack back I to place and learned my lesson on "don't fix it if it ain't broke" the passemger side is held in with a u-bracket with a bolt on bottom and a stud/nut on top. I bought all new nuts and bolts and decides to buy a new stud as well. Went to replace the stud and the nut it was going into on the backside of the bracket broke loose from the rack welds. Had a hell of a time getting it fished out. Theres no way to weld the nut back on without pulling g the entire front end and the front diff. So with the help of some long needle nose pliers, I got the nut held in place and the stud started in it. Got everything tightened down and the steering rack is now mounted. All that's left to drive this thing is to replace the carrier bearing and bolt the driveshaft back up. But the rain moved in and the temp dropped quick so I called it a night. The list is super short at this point so hopefully I can drive this thing to the range with
@tex this Sunday.
The list:
-Replace carrier bearing
-Install drive shaft
-Change oil
-Refill front diff
-Alignment
-New battery
-Vroom vroom
I have other stuff to do as well (change rear diff fluid, change trans/xfer case fluid, cut/modify sliders, and a few other things) but I'll do those a little at a time as I get a chance. They're nothing that has to be done before I start daily driving it.
