What have you done to your ride lately?

They starting to look like the front lower shock bolts to the LCA where half of the shaft gets worn away/through?
Yep and the spacers that go through the bushings get a bit brinelled.

Those cams and the front lower shock bolts designs always made me scratch my head. Not that I'm smart enough to know or come up with a better way......just slightly smart enough to know there has to be a better way lol

I'm digging the new idle voltage of the "booster" i installed the other week. My optima mexitops should last at least a few more months with the higher voltage now :)

You ever look into Redarc? Ive been watching some Australian shows (Patriot Games) and all those guys love their stuff. He has a different take on duel battery set ups that Ive not seen others talk about all that much. I didn't pay enough attention to be able to quote him when I watched the videos, but he's got some good takes on them (no idea how accurate his data/opinion is, but he seems to know his shit based on bad past experiences/failures)

Yeah looks like they have some great battery management systems but you pay for it...

Yea, Ill never be able to afford one of their trailers with those set ups....think they start at 2x the cost of my Subaru lol

Maybe I could afford one of their truck builds when I retire ~ They have a pretty good touring rig set up for under 70k.

Oh I was talking about red arc not the Patriot build stuff. Yeah I'll never be able to afford Patriots shit. I'd rather buy a used camping bus, then offroad it, beat it up and then once it breaks down, just go buy another used bus for the price of the Patriot stuff lol

Both are too pricey for my blood....I'm running a 5 yo Subaru battery and trying for the 6th year I'm so frugal these days.

if I was in Australia doing what they do - I'd buy once and cry once, but I live in NJ where my Subaru Impreza will get me through 95% of the "trails"/fire roads and a hrs walk in one direction will get you to the outside world every time.

Yeah way overkill for most places as well for me.

Welded up those stupid gouges that the first gen lca inner bushings caused on the perches.

Ok, so it appears to be a 3 series.. I don't recall you picking this up. What is it?

Ahh... ok. A buddy of mine had a 98' M Roadster.. I was like driving a clown shoe car. He had it for 9 years and sold it with 8k on the clock. I'll say one thing, when it hit bumps, your back compressed. But it was a really pretty blue and just gorgeous to look at and it handled like a slot car. Just needed to be on a track.

I LOVE the clownshoes, but holy hell have they skyrocketed in value. The roadsters are still a blast to drive. The 3.0 is one step below the M, and actually only down ~15hp from the ‘98-‘99 Z3M’s. (‘00-‘01 M’s have a different engine and make a good bit more power) With this car, I have no M markup, no M insurance rates, and no ugly M rear bumper and trunk. The car handles real well, and I put a strut brace on and it firmed up the car a noticeable amount. Hopefully I’ll have a hard top for it in a month or so as well.

The weather is starting to be great cruising weather so I’m replacing everything that hasn’t been replaced and is known to go bad on these engines. Spending a good bit of money on it, but it should be good as new afterwards. It’s fun to work on a 100% rust free vehicle!

He sold his CHEAP.. like $12k.. I was like "fuck man let me know.. I would have bought it!" He was moving and unloading shit. But yeah, for $12k I would have bought it. Then upgraded to some PRP suspension seats. :)

I would love a Z3 coupe, but if I slap a hard top on the roadster, it’s as close as I can get. Not gonna lie, driving around with no roof is fun though

He rarely drove his.. it was a garage queen. He and I used to go mtn biking 5 days a week and hung out all the time. I rarely saw the car out. I had to ask him to take it for a ride.

UGH. These cars need to be driven. I recently saw one pop up for sale with 25,000 miles. 2002 is the last year they made the Z3. How???
