What have you done to your ride lately?

Wife went to the Home Despot today to get a key made, she parked under a tree. Some bird shit acid on her hood. I got it wiped off quickly but there are 3 spots. I've got a new micro-fiber rag soaked in spray detailer sitting on it now. Probably go to Vato Zone tomorrow for a clay-bar kit. I've ceramic sprayed that thing as well.. guess its time for more of that. Fucking birds.

doubtful anything you do will help. Paint correction from someone that knows what they are doing is your only hope. Other than that the clear coat is probably fucked in those spots.
Good luck

Thanks... I "think" my finger can feel it. Hope it doesn't need anything more than a clay-bar. But I'll Google paint correction places near me.

Yep, get a paint correction and a real ceramic coating done ASAP. It's a big investment up front but damn is it nice. Think the place I looked I to was around $3000 for the lifetime coating. And it required a $150 "upkeep service" once every year after. But other than that it just needed hoses off and a half ass hand wash every few months. Youd be surprised how much paint correction cars need straight off the assembly line.

I feel your pain. My wife got a rock chip on the lower part of the windshield and we didnt notice. She goes into a car wash today and I guess the cold water on a hot windshield made it split all the way up it. Now we get to replace the windshield.

I need to stop letting small chips turn into huge cracks. From now on as soon as I get a chip I need to fill it. Ruined my last 2 windshields by not filling the chips up and that exact same thing happening to me with temp changes and cracks forming.

Not a fan of heim joints for a DD IMHO. Race truck sure....

Roger knows all about this. He's got stress issues caused by TC's poly bushings and they have WAY more play then heims. Heims would be MUCH worse IMHO at taking the road bumps and transferring those stresses into your frame that's already going to crack eventually in those areas

I know Icon shocks suck, but what about their billet UCAs?

05-UP TACOMA BILLET UCA DJ KIT 05-UP TACOMA BILLET UCA DJ KIT - Icon Vehicle Dynamics

Would you purchase a lightly used (~1500 miles) set for $500?

I was going to purchase the Camburg Billet UCA's but decided not to because of this. ^^^

Why is the guy selling them?

Is a delta joint and a heim joint the same thing?

Per the website: "These upper control arms feature ICON's patent pending Delta Joint. The Delta Joint is a heavy duty high angle ball joint that combines the durability of a ball joint with the performance characteristics of a traditional uniball."

I know a little about the joints, but not enough aparently.

Parting out his truck.

He had a tacoma that got totaled. Then he used the insurance money to build another one. Now, just a few months later, he has decide to part out the new truck and sell it. He's been kind of vague as to why and just said that he is trying to get together a down payment on something else.

Red circles are your heims and blue circles are your Delta joints.

Oh ok gotcha.

So by having metal heims, you are transferring more vibrations through your frame. So at the steering wheel, you'll feel a lot more vibrations. By having poly or rubber bushings there, those will dampen vibrations.

Basically:
Metal heims- Race truck or weekend truck.
Poly or Rubber bushings- Daily Driver.

Gotcha. Ok, I'll probably pass on them then. I can get a new set of JBA for not much more.

Yep same (minus the carwash). $1,400 for a new windshield from Volvo (I can only use OEM Volvo windshield due to the heating element and camera system the car has). Yes it's expensive but the heated windshield is da bomb. Clears up the windshield in about a minute.
