I didn't do the work today but the dealer did a fuel pump recall on my truck and also replaced 3 nut certs in the frame to attach skid plates.

Is there a fuel pump recall on these things? I didn't get an email or slow-mail.

I think the Tacomas and older 5th gens are in the clear. Service advisor mentioned newish 4runners and Tundras but Google it or check the Toyota website. They were extremely happy I removed the skids and cleaned the mud from under it.

There are a ton of them involved on the recall. I got a notice on the tundra, tacoma, highlanders and the sienna vans Im unfortunately saddled with.

Ha, I was actually looking at backhoe setup at the dealer this morning, only problem, there is more risk (water, elect, sewer/septic, fiber, sprinkler etc) involved, digging with trench type machines.

Nothing that can't be fixed lol

lol.... I just placed a call with 811 yesterday to come out and mark my underground lines so I don't explode when I dig.

I'm not looking forward to it. Back in the day all our lines were in the same trench. Last year they ran new gas lines w/o digging so who knows how they did that. Luckily I just need to dig 2 holes for 2 fence posts.

yep, always good to get that Dig transmittal number or the 48hrs or what ever time period y’all get up there prior to digging.

IDK how long it takes - never called before. Last time I just dug, but now I'm older and wiser + that new gas line scares me. Also think the fines are huge now if you don't call and then blow up your house :flaming:

New Jersey Law requires anyone digging to call at least three full business days(excluding weekends and holidays) prior to beginning work.

Changed the oil/air filter in the Subaru this morning. She goes in for surgery day after Labor day. Got one recall (in 6 years) for the trans parking brake being defective, an air bag light thats been on for 5 years, having them do an alignment, new tires, flush the CVT, do the wheel bearings finally (under warranty - was going to DIY them until I found out they were covered), and check the suspension. I told them the suspension is all blown and it's covered by their 10year/100k so I'd like them swapped out - we shall see what they "determine". Also all the rubber bushings in the suspension is bad/torn and the spot welds that are cracking on he hatch needed to be documented and or fixed.

They want $750 for spark plugs but I still have 14k until they are needed so Ill hold off. Not sure what kind of PITA that is on a boxer design so Ill need to look into that in the next year or so. Don't think Ive ever paid anyone to change spark plugs on anything in my life so we shall see

Dealer is a 1/4 mile from my moms so just dropping it off, walking back, then borrowing her Nissan for a couple days while they work on it.

If they have to "work" on the cracks in the hatch it could take much longer, but then Ill want a rental. Ford took a few weeks when they had to repaint my Exploder. It came from the factory with over and under spray I didn't catch till I was washing it for the first time.

This will make a big difference when the Orange brush crush attachment is on, and loaded on the trailer, when it adds 1,100lbs of tongue weight.

Did the seafoam spray through the intake last night. Did about half of it in front of the throttle body but didn't like how it would pool up right in front, so I moved over to putting it in through the brake booster line.

The instructions said to have someone hold the RPMs at 2k, but I was solo and didn't have much issue just putting it in at idle. Engine slowed down once or twice, but I just stopped spraying and waited for it to get back up to speed before resuming the application.

Camera only looks to have captured about half the smoke. I backed out of the driveway and gave the engine a rev and threw some error codes with a hard CEL.

20200830_221411.jpg

Cleared the CEL and went for a drive with several high RPM moments. CEL never came back, so hopefully that was only an initial "holy crap" by the ECU.

It felt like it pulled harder after doing it, but time will tell if I see any improvement overall.

MPG has been pretty consistent about 16.8 and doesn't seem to vary much no matter what I do. [i.e. fuel additives, or weight reduction (removal of skids and camper top)].
