What have you done to your ride lately?

Today I conquered my fears of messing with suspension coils and actually gave my Tacoma some attention. I used the jack-under-the-LCA method and it was easy peasy. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get to an alignment shop. I also installed OMEs in the rear. These seem to be a larger diameter than the 5100s...hoping for a ride improvement!

More audio stuff...

Amp is hooked up and powering the driver's side speakers. Passenger side is still hooked up to factory wiring lol.

I ended up doing a little better cable management and rotated the amp 90* from the picture. I had to in order to not interfere with the seats ability to slide. Now I need to do the passenger side. Front door already has the wire run. Just need to disconnect the factory wire and tweeter and solder the new wire to the speaker. Still need to run the wire for the rear door, sound deaden, etc.

I probably need to tune the amp, but that'll be for another day.

On that note, the seat didn't slide very good anyway, so I hit it with some dry lube. Grease probably would have been better, but getting grease where it needed to go would have been a royal pain.

I also added sound deadening mat and closed cell foam under the carpet from under the driver's seat as far forward as I could go.

Oh, and routed the CB coax better while I had the seat out.

Oh, and routed the wires for the cell booster better since everything was torn apart. Still need to figure out a permanent mount for the hideous antenna. It's just hanging out in the back seat right now.

Oh, and hooked up the front camera to the back of the head unit while I had it out. Now I just need to run it up front, mount it, power it and put it on a switch.

Started on the brakes (pads, rotors, stainless brake lines) on the Taco. Ran into a snag. The hardline from the caliper to the spot on the spindle where it joins up with the flex line got kinked (not like tickle its butthole with a feather kink) and I didn't feel comfortable using it. So.. two new lines are on order. Also pulled the master cylinder off and cleaned it up, bench bled it. But its just sitting in the vise until the hard lines get replaced. So I got the calipers cleaned up, repainted, installed with pads in place. Put it on roller dollies and rolled it over and will fuck with it later in the week. Will be digging my pressure washer out of the shed as well... she needs a bath.. bad!

Your missing springs on those pads, I've told you before and posted a picture way back when. These springs will work, even if Amazon says otherwise.

After braking, the springs put a small amount of pressure on the pads so they are not constantly creating fiction with the rotors, you will have pull the pins, install the springs then push the pins back in and clip them.

Started to work on the Taco. My neck is still killing me so I am gonna take it slow and do just a little at a time. Got the wheels/tires off. Got the calipers free from the spindle. Brakes surprisingly look great.. but I think those hills in Arkansas caused the pads to glaze over a little. Stopping power is not there like it should be. But those brakes have over 30k on them and the pads are still very thick and the rotors look damn near perfect. Got to use my new Milwaukee 3/8ths Fuel ratchet. I really should have pressure washed this thing before I started.

You talking about the brake pad clips? I’ve lost so many of them in the past....without them, my pads rattle like crazy on gravel roads and drives me CRAZY

That's Mr Asshole to you
I replaced the cheap door lock actuators from a year ago with some Aisin ones. Hopefully this doesnt make my alarm go off at random and actually locks my doors with the key fob.

Ok, peer pressure.. I may put them in... I do need to pull the wheels back off to install those hard lines so it would only take a moment to install them. But I never had put them in before and never had an issue. :asz: :devil-flip:

If Toyota went through all the trouble to engineer them, spec them and install them then you probably should have them on your truck...

It is not a war crime the first time.

Yeah engineers are not always the "bible" for how things should be done. The aftermarket exists for a reason.

And I use the springs.

I can't believe your pads don't rattle....Your brake pad pins not be lubed very well because every disk brake I've ever had without those springs will rattle the pads unless brake pressure is applied. On my Tacoma (I think), I even doubled up on the springs...one on the top and one on the bottom of each caliper.
