What have you done to your ride lately?

I've been making good progress on the bed rack I am making. But.. ran out of welding wire tonight. I have some, but its not the same stuff I am using now. Anyhow, ordered more.. will be here tomorrow. 24 lbs of it. 2 11lbs spools (1 .030 and 1 .035) and then a small 2 lbs .030. Anyhow, hope to have 95% of the welding done on this thing over the weekend. Just leave things like tie-downs and light mounts to burn in. Oh yeah, and then I need to create some TredPro mounts, shovel mount and the HiLift mount.. ok.. maybe not 95%. But getting there.

In the home stretch....and.... ran out of welding gas!

Fuck.. so all week I didn't have a chance to go get my bottle refilled. So today I decided to head up to Belton and get it refilled. It was the only welding gas supply company open. I get up there and they won't refill it. Stated that my tank is a rental, no its not. I've had it refilled around Austin and no issues. Guy was a bit of a dick. Not refilling it. So no finishing up today. Watching my kid play volleyball now, hope to get to some wiring in the bed later.

Yes, it is store-by-store on the selection. They have a variety of gas mixes and bottle sizes.
I have never seen any in my area. Guess I'll have to go look then.

Went and swapped out welding gas cylinders so I can wrap up the fab on this bed rack. Also picked up a little something to install on the rack.

LOL.. digging through a side box on one of my tool boxes and came across and brand-new unopened box of 10 lbs of .030 welding wire. Guess all this would have really done is have me run out of welding gas sooner.... and possibly on a weekday!

Did a bit more on the rack. Will be adding a cross piece that holds a Quick Fist and holds the antenna in place when its lowered. Also rethinking this "keyed" Ram arm.. I know I'll lose the key. Decided not to use any of the antenna extension sections, even the short one put it way the fuck up there. As it is now its as tall as any other antenna on the truck.

Lets see here. Rear brakes got some attention. New calipers, pads, rotors, e brake shoes and rebuild. New E brake cable is on order as well.
New battery today since it almost didn't start today and died on my at Jambo way too quick when I was airing up my tires. AC evac and recharge happening tomorrow morning. AC blows cold but in the heat of these 90+ afternoon it really doesn't cold like it should.
Next week or 2 a new windshield is happening.

12 years in and I feel like my AC is not as cold as it should be, and takes a bit to actually feel the cold. I want to charge it, but I don't want that to become a regular thing either because it technically still works. I feel like most people say that once you open the system to charge it that you open it up for other potential issues and/or needing to be recharged more often.

I have done the recharge cans from the stores before with decent impact but not long lasting. At some point I need to get the system on my 4Runner properly drained to pull a vacuum test to make sure there are no pinhole leaks.

With it being a used truck I have no idea if the AC has been charged, but it's here and getting done. Fingers crossed it keeps me cold this summer.

I only had a half pound of freon so no wonder it was struggling to cool down. Vacuum test was good so hopefully no leaks. Blows SO cold now.
