What have you done to your ride lately?

It has taken me a few years to adjust to the mindset since my last job had "unlimited" vacation / sick days. But now that I have a clear defined # of days I tend to manage them better.

I can have 240 hours of vacation, right now I have about 230 or so. Sick time, well I guess I can have a shitload of it. I only have about 100 hours though, I take a day here and there every few months for no reason other than I want to. lol They do have an option where you no longer get sick time but instead get like 6 extra days of PTO.

Well it finally happened. Discount tire stripped two lug nuts on my S60 when I took it in for a nail in the tire and to get my tires rotated. So I had to drop it off to get worked on.

Seems to be a trend lately. A friend of mine with a Sequoia had a couple of lugnuts cross threaded by Discount. The irony was one stud was a stud they had replaced the prior rotation because they snapped it off with an impact.

Sorry.. speaking of time off. I work with a guy who has been at the company for like 20 years or so. Today we all went into the office for a reason.. anyhow. This guy says he has 7 months of sick time saved up!! WTF. I was talking about this with the new guy (been there about 6 months now).. he says that during his new hire into the HR lady said she had over a year of sick time. Blew my mind.

7 months, that’s wild. We get 40 hours of sick time a year and can carry over 40. I don’t get sick very often so for me it’s just an extra week of vacation.

Update: After talking with the service manager yesterday I got a full refund for my Kubota service.

My uncle is a pilot for Southwest. He has over 6 months of sick time and has to retire before then. He could literally call out sick for the rest of his time he can work but he won’t because he likes flying the trips that pay double time

Gave the Tacoma some love today. I have these Cerakote ceramic trim coat wipes that I got to wipe down my ROAM Adventure boxes. Anyhow got way more than I thought I would need. I cleaned the mirrors, door handles and top of the bed sides with some glass cleaner and then wiped them down with a pad. Came out a bit shinier than expected, looks like @tex was cleaning them. lol But now it looks like I'll be washing it after work and seeing what else I can clean up. First time its had anything clean on it in years. Out of the 20 wipes I bought I've only used 5. So I guess I'll be looking for things to wipe down. :D

Went and washed it. Had to drive about 15 miles to find a car wash place with old school wands and brushes. The kid is going to wash the rims later and I will hit it with a clay bar.

Ended up using Chemical Guys clay bar kit, then some 303 Graphiner nano spray. Another Cerakote wipe and did the headlights as well. Still need to clean the windshield and repaint all the bumpers and sliders. Also need to pull the grill and repaint it with some OEM color paint. But shit its not looking too bad. Had the kid clean the wheels. She found some old "matte" tire shine and used it.

I would talk shit but I too applied tire shine this week. Well, I didn't but the guy at the car wash I go to did. I did make the conscious decision to pay the extra $6 though.

I had the kid using spray window cleaner to clean the wheels, she said she wanted to make them shinier. She had already gone to the car wash with me and helped. She went to the gas station with me and pumped the gas. I'm not gonna tell her no.

I must have a thing about washing this thing in April/May timeframe. 2 years ago was its last bath. Didn't use the foam cannon because I wanted all the other options a car wash offers. Degreaser/ spot free rinse.
