Well shit. I accidentally ordered the driver's side shock instead of the passenger side and they aren't interchangeable. Oh well, I probably need to replace the driver's side soon anyways so I'll just do it now. So I got the passenger side shock and the extra bits on order last night.

But for a car that's got ~130k miles, the rubber bushings and all that under the car are in fantastic shape. I wish Toyota would use whatever rubber compound that Volvo uses for bushings as all of my Tacoma bushings were shot by a 100k miles.

I also realized this is the longest amount of time this car hasn't been on the road since we bought it in 2014 (I had to wait 3 weeks for the coils to come from Sweden to my house). This car has been used every single week since then (except vacations).

I did the 195k tire rotation and oil change yesterday.

I have my first potential negative on the Fumoto valve, and I noticed it AFTER filling back up with oil. The felt washer that came with it seems to be failing, as there was oil around the base of the valve. I googled it and the first picture that came up was exactly what mine looked like. Apparently the different expansion at different temps between the brass valve and the aluminum oil pan causes a lot of stress on the gasket. So I'll be replacing that with a metal crush washer on the next oil change.

I also only got about 3.5 qts out of it. I'm sure Toyota would say that 1 qt of oil consumption is normal and acceptable over the course of 5k miles, especially considering it has 195k on the clock. I'll monitor it. Perhaps more is getting out around the Fumoto than I think, but no spots on my driveway....just something else to keep an eye on.

If it is weeping oil then there should be a pretty obvious trail behind the oil pan. It will blow backwards and upwards some and not drip so much in one spot. I had a similiar issue with a transmission leak on the Tacoma.

I got the driver's side buttoned back up last night with a new shock, coil, brake rotor and pads. Putting the coil and shock together takes a little bit of time getting everything lined up because it uses a shim puck on the top shock assemble to get the right angle for the car.
I always forget how thicccc Volvo brake pads are when new. The parts for the passenger side have shipped and will be here early next week.

I ordered this little tool and went to Harbor freight to get a 36" pry bar yesterday. The combo of those two tools really helped me get the coilover out and back in place.

Yeah I was using a chain before but the hook made it easier.

Tacoma transmissoin filter change is done. The test ride was good so we will put some miles on it to see if it is good. While I was under the truck I saw the oil pan gasket needs to be replaced as well. So that will be here next week and I might have it swapped out by next summer too.

How many times have you done that? I did the trans flush at about 90k miles with YotaRob's neighbor who owned a shop and wanted to try out his new B&G Fluids changer. Don't recall a filter though, but its been a long time.

This is the first time I remember doing it on the Tacoma. I bought the truck at 103k miles and the dealership did a flush and filter before I bought it. The truck has 380k miles now so it has been a few miles. I added a quart of the recommended friction modifier to help resolve the shifting shudder from 2nd to 3rd.

Man start driving your Tacoma again. It was nice driving it for the past few weeks and getting a bunch of little issues that annoyed me taken care of.

I got the passenger side buttoned up with new strut, coil, strut bearing, brake rotor & pads. I jacked up the rear of the car and one of the rear shocks is leaking oil. Both bumpstops are also toast so I'll get those on order as well along with the shocks.
