Fed-Ex dropped off a new detent / drop down cable Friday. Those that remember my transmission problem where tracked down to a broken cable end and Todds cousin helped me "rig" it to work with a bunch of zip ties. It has worked well enough since but I have been trying to keep an eye out for a new cable, The are discontinued at Toyota & pretty hard to find since most of these trucks came with manual transmissions. Well I got lucky & picked one up for $40 off of Yotatech.

New cable.

Pic with new torsion bars. Not much different in looks, but it is a little higher in the front. I basically have them adjusted as low as they can go. At first I set them in the middle of the adjustment range and it was WAY high in the front.

I also beat this pinch weld back, this is where it was rubbing the worst & eating up my inner fender liners.

Trimmed my lower bump stops. Not sure this was I good idea but I wsa bored. Need to order some low pro stops.

I got my Tacoma brake booster & master cylinder cleaned up and ready to be installed.

Installed the Tacoma brake booster & master cylinder last night. Besides me needing a new vacuum line for the booster it was a completely bolt on swap. I was wondering about the low brake fluid leve indicator wiring, but that is an easy deal also. The connector is different but the wires are all the same, just cut & splice. Still need to bleed everything, I got frusterated with striping all of the line fittings and decided to try & get a 10mm line wrench instead of continuing to fuck them all up. I did NOT bench bleed the master cylinder, surely I will regret that soon enough but I did not have the little plugs that they give you when you buy one new. Hopefully I will get much better braking out of the larger bore MC & dual diaphram booster. HOPEFULLY I can stop my self from running into any more trees!

You will regret it Rob.. I bought a bench bleed kit off Amazon ($7 plus $8 shipping! WTF?).. anyhow. I tried to bleed mine through the lines and it didn't really work so great. I could stab the pedal to the floor with only minimal stopping power. Granted I had a brand new MS so maybe yours will be ok as there was probably some residual fluid in there. But Clyde is still on jackstands but when it comes down I'll pull the MC and bench bleed it.

I was going to give it a shot with my Mighty-Vac hand pump & if it's a no go then I'll pull it back off & try to rig something up.

Good luck, I have a similar item. The problem is that the air is trapped inside the MC and when you depress the pedal (while installed) you are not depressing it completely.

Here is the bleed kit I bought http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001SG8ZC0/ref=oss_product Its sold under the "Help" brand, so its possible that one of your local auto parts stores might be able to get one.

LOL, I wouldn't think about scratching up your chrome Chris! I really need to get that wheel back to you.

Thanks for the link on that kit Sean, I know I have seen those at Napa, I'll pick one up after work & just go ahead and pull it off to bench bleed, might as well save myself the frusteration.

Master cylinder bench bleeding for dummies! Mr. Rodgers style!

You shouldn't need to pull the MC off the truck to bench bleed, just pull the lines, put the little kit on and and start pumping.

Well thanks Todd but I already did it last night. I bought one of those kits from O'reilys for $8 & also had to buy a new set of flare nut wrenches. I guess I lost my 10mm & they did not sell individual wrenches, but o'well. After bench bleeding the MC I bleed all of the wheels & have plenty of pedal pressure now, gonna drive it around the block some this evenng & test them out.

It needs a trail test before I will trust it again! I am gonna pick the right incline with nothing behind me and test it out in a controlled manner before I do any real wheeling.

I just read some real good right ups about 1st gen 4runner bed bob's & cutting the top to match on Pirate. Just throwing that out there.
