I once drove my 'Valley Girl' (baby blue '65 Valiant with 200k miles) from AZ to NJ and my college roommate hit something on the OK turnpike... minutes later the car died... He thought my car was dead - it wasn't just a dime-sized hole in the gas tank!

I took his deodorant, stuffed the hole and the 'Courtesy Doughnut and Coffee' car gave us some gas and hit held 'til we could drive someplace that sold JB Weld. :D

Here are some pics of the 5.29 gear and locker install that the seller sent me. He had all of the bearing replaced at the same time, master install kits.

Thats what I though, at least I know they where done right and that they are only about a year old. It's also kinda nice that they are already broken in and I am getting fresh bearings out of the deal.

Also the seller had pretty much the same set up as me, 22re, auto & 33's. He told me yesterday that putting the 5.29's in was the best thing he ever did to his truck. He said that it got off the line strong and he could run 85 mph no problem, easily hold 70 mph up hill ect. He said it was very noticeable in 4lo.

Very nice that gear pattern is perfect. You'll be amazed the sufferance those gears make my truck was a whole different animal when I regeared it

He just sent me the tracking number for the 3rd members. They should be here on Wednesday the 30th. Damn the shipping was high! I sent him an extra $100 for shipping up front and had to send him another $15 just now.

On another note, Fed Ex came and went and did NOT drop off a package from Bud Built. Fuck! Bud has been great customer service wise though out all of this, keeping me informed and I guess that is all I can ask but damn I am tired of waiting. It has been on order for over 3 weeks now. He guessed it would be here today, but it looks like the 4runner won't be leaving the garage this weekend. I imagine it will show up on Monday, hopefully I can get it painted Monday night and install it on Tuesday. I still have axle shims to install, alittle exhaust work to do and a motor mount to replace but not enough work to keep me busy for the weekend. I guess I could always do some yard work........

Just a note and it's not meant to bash Bud but I think he hangs in a nice little home with his wife, dog and 2 cats, while he has someone do all his work with NC equipment in some other location. I may be wrong. To me, I'm okay with it as long as it's good quality and get's to me when I need it.

He stuff is probably drop shipped from his outsourced supplier.

Bud told me that the designs are his, he just out sources the lazer cutting of the steel. He bends them in house and engraves them with his logo. When I spoke with him on Wednesday he told me the noise in the back ground was his guy grinding the rough edges on my crossmember and that it was shipping out in less than an hour.

I know, it is certianally not bad for a custom crossmember. Bud told me when I placed the order that he generally keeps the crossmembers in stock, unbent so that he can bend them for custom drivetrain lift amounts and ship with in 1-3 days, but that he was out of blank automatic crossmembers and that it would be a week or so before he got more in. He has even thrown in a free t-shirt since it is taking longer than usual. Super nice guy, I am not trying to complain at all, I am just being impatient because I want to get this project wrapped up.

With all the hassle of vendors and towing and such - I'm thinking of changing hobbies! What do you think? Fly fishing? Maybe lotto playing - win a bunch and have my 'guys' drive my toys where I want them!!! :D

Finally arrived. Pics do not do this thing justice, it is pure beef. The crossmember is 3/8" thick and the skid is 3/16". Skid is huge, it should just about cover the entire tranny.

Now if I could just get the trans mount I would be all set. Those guys are starting to piss me off. I bought it on last Monday from marverikautoparts through E-bay. The ad says that it will ship in 1-3 days. It has now been 7 days and it still has not shipped. I messaged them through Ebay on Friday and still have not gotten a response, I just sent them another message. We'll see how this goes, my messages have been very polite thus far.
