Yeah you can't beat the flat shooting, high BC and low recoil in competitions."tactical" group or just long range nuts? It seems like the 6.x calibers are dominating the long range competitions. I was talking with a couple shooters a while back. They admitted that the 6.x calibers are great for punching holes in paper; but when it comes to putting down a threat they still prefer a 30 cal.
Yeah they really need to design better hunting/penetrating ammo for the 6x platforms. I've used Hornady whitetail out of my 6.5Creedmore but my barrel doesn't like it. And I've read the same about others. I shot a couple of deer with my 6.5 using Prime 140GR and they still ran a 100+ yards which is unacceptable. It looked like the bullet just zipped right through them without expanding very well despite being a hollow point.
I've read some SF units are switching over to 6x platforms awhile back.
