I will have the measurements, templates, and parts list if you want to schedule a time to build one too.
I'm just being lazy, I already have a drawing/plan and parts list for what I want. Just not the time to build it

I picked up the last of the materials this afternoon. Tonight I got the side pieces welded together so I could cut them the same. The cross bar connection slots have been drilled at the ends, the brace marked, and the cut away areas are marked. Tomorrow morning these pieces should start looking like a real rack.

Sunday got away from me; but I made up for lost time tonight. I am working out a few fab details for the next step. So far I am happy enough with it.

Looking good. I have always enjoyed the kind of work where you utilize basic hand tools to do something pretty cool.

Thanks; I really do wish I had a plasma cutter to do this with but am getting by with an angle grinder w/ cut off discs and good guides. Hopefully tonight I get through with this side and can start on the other. I really am debating just getting a plasma cutter to knock out the rest of this side and the other side.

Na plasmas not that much faster, there's still significant grinding to do not to mention the inevitable mistakes that scrap a whole piece of material.

Some grinding beats a whole crapload of grinding/cutting.

Tonight I installed the URD simulator for the rear O2 sensor. I am resetting the fuel mapping and will see what this does for overall drive ability and MPGs after a few tanks of gas.

Installed the 4th gen 4Runner windshield spray nozzles. It is really nice to have three spray points instead of two.

Genuine Toyota 4Runner Nozzle 85381-35090
New OEM Factory Part
Year: 2003-2009 (but plug and play on 3rd Gens too)

Interesting, i have never heard of that mod. The PO put some weird "chrome" washers on and I've just never cared enough to look into changing them. I'll have to order these!

I have now ran 4-5 tanks of gas through the 4Runner since I installed the URD O2 sensor simulator. The hwy 70-75 mph trips are still averaging 17-18 mpg but these trips have not been on flat roads and not real hwy miles. The real improvement so far has been in my mixed work driving - mostly city with a few 14-16 mile stretches of hwy speeds with some hills. This used to be around 13-14 mpg. The last two tanks for work driving averaged 16 mpg. I have a few more drive train changes lined up that should help out a little more also.

All these gains only to be negated by the upcoming roof rack and RTT. lol

17-18 mpg... fuck you. ;)

X2... even when my engine was new I never saw those numbers. 17 was my best tank average ever I believe. Now it's 43mpg :chuck:
