I have those. Just weld them on slow.

Do I have to take them completely off the truck to do it or just disconnect the UCA? The instructions make it seem like just the UCA. For the money it seems like a pretty smart upgrade considering the added weight the 4R will be carrying around.

I would yank the whole knuckle, not much more work and you don't have to fuck with out of position welds

Yanking them off would make welding it easier. But I welded mine in place just removing the tire and there was no problems. Not anything I couldn't get to, just uphill welds which isn't as easy if its laying on a bench. But that was 5+ years ago and they are still in place and holding up fine.

I will have to see how much room I have once I get in there. I'm not opposed to balling up and welding in the wheel well. I might buy a welding blanket first to keep the sparks controlled and off of me.

From what I have read and been advised I will clean the metal really well, prep a nice V between the two surfaces, and use low/med heat to burn it in. I will do no more than an inch and no closer than 6" until it is all stitched together. Like Sean said; going back and forth between the two sides will help keep the heat from building up too much. I just wish I had gas to burn these in with.

You're welcome to use the shop.

Packages showed up today with my CB install parts. So I now have:

Cobra 19DX
4' Firestik w/ quick disconnect
a multiplexor to run the radio and CB off of one antenna
Blue Sea fuse box

Waiting for the antenna cable. I already had a CBI ditch light bracket that I am going to use to mount the antenna. I also ordered a new Kershaw pocket knife for basic stuff and a knock off ARB deflator. After using Blake's last weekend I am sold on them. Now I just need time to get it all installed.

Collecting parts I never use or install is a hobby of mine. :D

So far the CB antenna is making a great antenna for my radio. I am still working on a good mounting solution for the CB radio in the ashtray location. I have seen a lot of options but most of them seem kind of questionable.

When I had my CB located there in my green Tacoma, I just used 3M double sided tape and it held up way better than I had figured it would. Never had any problems with it.

Or maybe it was Velcro...

I am kind of curious what kind of rig we could build out of all the "waiting to be installed" parts. I have a transfer case with 4.7s sitting in the corner of my garage so there is a nice start.
