Just for future reference: 2001 4Runner daytime running light disable is done by clipping the black with yellow stripe wire on the plug below and right of the steering wheel. The wire is on side with just two wires. Clip, tape, and done.

I did not like them on at night when I drive through gated areas (hard on the gate personnel) and they were burning through my good bulbs faster than I cared to pay for.

Oh ok, my Tacoma does not have daytime running lights, I think 2009+ Tacoma's do.

I do run with my lights on all the time because statistics do show that daytime are more beneficial

I know the old stats showed they were beneficial; but at the point my headlights are between the driver and their smartphone we are already past the point where the DRLs will make a difference.

That was one of my first mods, it’s hard to be shady when your headlights are always on:shifty:
Plus it’s kind of a dick move to have your headlights on when your taking a short trip to the camp outhouse or some some in the middle of the night cause your wife HAS to pee

My Schrockworks bumper is ready to peel back the side of an idiotmobile anytime. I almost opened up a little D50 last week when the guy tried to make a turn through my lane at a stop sign.

This is also one of the reasons I wanted to do this. In BBRSP I felt like an asshole driving at night with my headlights on when the moon was more than bright enough to drive by.

I agree. I H8 daytime lights. Not that we do anything illegal, but some camping spots on the populated east coast are better off left hidden from the public when you are coming/going at night. Seen people who were friends for 5+ years get into fights when one of them posts the locations in public. Same reason all my tents are green or camo. Next weekend I'm going to a "secret" first come first serve free spot you can camp, drink, and shoot at legally. Only place within 6 hrs drive that I know of like this. if anyone blew that spot on social media - I think I'd prob want to knock them in the nose. Lose lips sink ships along with DRL's lol

Not using headlights in the parks make perfect sense, and I hate those douchecanoes who set their car alarms off.

Barkerla was camping somewhere and his neighbor's had some dirt bikes stolen, crazy.

Yikes. I'd go apesh*t if that happened to me. Worst Ive had stolen was a beach towel camping and that pissed me off. Probably some drunk rental kayakers on a booze cruise from the city.

Worst Ive seen was a domestic and the GF came running up to our camp for help all bruised and battered. We kept her safe until the LEO's we called showed up and took her BF into custody. In hindsight - we all remembered hearing people screaming the night before, but just chocked it up to kids partying. it's not like we heard screams for "help" and ignored them. One of the reasons I'm not a huge fan of loud radios at camp regardless if your camp is the only one in a mile radius. I like to know whats going on in my surrounding area. Doubtful I'd hear a bear stalking camp, but what if I could and it saved my ass.

Just FYI, if you pull the e-brake one click before you start it... where the light comes on on the dash but the brakes arent actually engaged... and leave it on, the DRL wont come on. Used it many times at the drive in and such when I wanted to sit in the cab with the AC on but not have to bother others with the DRL. As soon as you release the e-brake they'll come back on.

Last night I swapped in two greasable bolts into the rear suspension for test fitting and to make sure they would do what I was looking for. While I was under the rig I noticed the rear shocks look like hell, have torn boots, and have some slop in the lower bushing. Guess I cannot complain too much for shocks that have 130k miles on them.

So new rear shocks are on the short list now too. Thankfully the fronts were replaced 6 to 10 months ago.

That great feeling when the last payment is made. A little under 3 years, 100k miles, 3 big camping trips, a lot of long distance beer runs, and more good times than I remember - but it is paid off now.

Next up some more trips and upgrades.
