The correct ones this time. I ordered the wrong ones the first time. Expensive mistake. Adaptit USA is who I purchased from.

I bought mine through 6sixty and was very happy with them.

Any reason why I shouldn't add a lock washer here? The wheels adapters I got have a tapered lug at the base that is preventing the lug nut from securing the wheel. The shank is a few mm too long and the wheel has slight play.

No, don’t add lock washers.

Get the proper lug nuts.

If you can’t find them at parts store, hit up discount tire, they carry a variety of lug nuts for various aftermarket/stock wheels.

So what's the thought on no lock washers? I'm heading back to Oreilly's this morning to see what they have, the guy last night wasn't much help.

It’s not worth taking short cuts on trailer lug nuts, buy the proper lugs, especially for al wheels, the lack of surface area contact effects the torque.

Sadly, I have lost all respect for O'Reilly's. They used to be full of useful and knowledgeable people. I have been disappointed the last several times I have been in one. AutoZone, on the other hand, seems to be doing the opposite trend. They seem to be getting more useful and knowledgeable. Weird.

...maybe because of the mentality I have when I go in. I expect O'Reilly employees to be knowledgeable and useful and am always disappointed. I expect AutoZone employees to be useless and am pleasantly surprised sometimes.

I would agree with Scott on purchasing the right lug nut and not using a lock washer. I would consider using a regular washer before a lock washer, but I don't think that is a good option either. Think of your use and worst case scenario here. If you planned to pull the thing around town only and your worst case scenario was that you detached and parked it along the highway where you could return to get it within a few hours, then maybe the risk is worth the reward. However, I assume you are planning on taking this thing to some pretty remote locations. Failure could mean leaving it in the middle of nowhere for days. Getting back to it might require additional resources and time off work. (sure, the risk of vandalism in the city is higher, but access is easier)

"Lock" washers are only good for prototypes. All "lock" washers become regular washers overtime (the more tension they are under, the faster they become regular washers). The only solution when you need to lock something in is using a chemical bond (Loctite, permatex, etc...) or an additional mechanical bond (nylon nuts or use an additional nut).

Wish me luck. I couldn't find the proper nuts locally. A lock washer was used to eliminate the gap and allow for a tight connection, not necessarily to lock anything. They just happen the be the right size. This will have to do for my trip, I'll check torque after the first 100 miles then at every other stop after. I'll work a more permanent solution upon return, but I think I'll fine.

Looking good! I would not worry about it all that much especially if you keep a keen eye on it. I'd be more worried about the lug nutz you can't check the torque on w/o removing the tire.

if you need a special thin walled socket for the adapters - remember to take it w/you. Been stuck on a trail before hammering a thick walled socket into the space a thin wall would of fit when another guys spacers got loose. Delayed us for hrs.

Jealous. Wish I was headed to BBRSP right now. The whole park is in Spring mode and the pictures they are posting look great.
