I'll post a trip report at some point. I was making fun of all the over exaggerated stuff I've read about Big Bend Ranch. "bring plenty of spare tires", "snakes will sleep with you" etc. No flat tires and never saw a rattlesnake. Not to discredit the threat of snakes...

Yeah; I am not sure how people blow out tires on the lower part of the Ranch. The upper Northwest corner is a tire killer from what I have heard and seen in pictures. It has a lot less traffic so it gets tougher to get around. I think a lot of it is ill prepared people.

I know guys who hate on a certain tire and complain relentlessly about them in rocks. 2-3 flats in a single trip blah blah blah. I can go to the same place they go to with 3 other rigs that have good drivers running those same exact tires and none of us get flats. I think it's not their tools fault - maybe they just can't drive.?.

I had 1o gallons. We were fine, but we didn't drive as much as we hike and biked. Unrelated but related, what kind of MPG you get towing your trailer? I got 10 ish.

I only brought an extra 5 when I went.. mistake. Probably why I over did it and brought 25 gallons to Arkansas.

But with the trailer I get about 8-9 MPG or so. My trailer is a pig, as is my truck. This last trip I went "light" and maybe got 10 if I was below 65 mph.

Does your trailer have a hitch on the back? If so, I see a Thule bike rack in your future or something similar. If not, we can burn in a new hitch for you.

It's got a rear hitch there and can fit my hitch mounted bike rack. It'll work for the kids bikes best. Due to the trailer rack, the big bikes won't fit the best when placed on the first bike "spot". It's a 4 bike hitch mount, el cheapo.

Gotcha. Check Craigslist for a better bike rack to come up. I use my brothers Thule bike rack and it's pretty sweet. I need to build an extension for it so it'll clear my spare tire.

Setup the new RTT today. Much bigger than the 3x RTT. I'm excited to use this thing in 3 weeks.

Camped out at Barnwell Mountain this past weekend for Jambo. Rained almost as soon as we got there on Friday, all night into Saturday morning. It then cleared up nicely.

First time with the annex on the tent. It did great, especially considering the weather. It gave us room to hang out and go to the bathroom...not at the same time. It adds time for setup and tear down and it's quite bulky to pack. We wouldn't use the annex on single night camping spots.

I'll also be spraying some fabric guard / waterproofing on the tent and the annex. It was most needed on the annex. It could shed water a bit better.

Tip: Not sure if you carry one of those small propane heaters, small cook stoves work too, the heaters work great in the Spring to Summer months too for drying out tents, saves a lot time vs packing it up damp/wet, drive home and unpack to continue drying out.

So at Jambo I won a gift certificate for a Budbuilt rear diff skid plate. They don't make one for the Tacoma and the 4runner doesn't need one. I haven't been impressed with my RCI aluminum skid plates and Bud's going to let me use the value of the certificate towards some steel skid plates for the 4runner. Awesome. I may have mentioned to them my displeasure of RCI skids and they mentioned they heart that a lot.

They've been around a long time...long before some of these new companies. I've heard they moved into a new shop and their website is actually modern.
