Blake's 86 4Runner - MO4R

There's not really a build going on yet but just wanted somewhere to store my pics.

I bought this 1986 4Runner with 298,000 on it. It has the 22RE engine and W56 5-speed transmission. I was told it will run if you put gas directly into it but as soon as you put it in gear it will die and puff out smoke. I haven't tried as it has no battery. The body on it is 100% perfect. No dings, dents, or creases. The frame suspension has a little surface rust but it is nothing that can't be fixed in a day's time. Nothing is rusted through on it (that I've found yet).

First goal is to get a new engine in it and get it running. I'll make more plans after that's accomplished.

Loaded up on the trailer ready to head back home.

After we got it home and I cleaned all the trash out of it.

A bunch of trim pieces I found in it.

Tread-wise the tires on it are really good. 31x10.5x15 BFG Radial Long Trails

Copied from first post since Adam can't read.

It is not a war crime the first time.

Looks like you got a good deal on it. Glad to see you got a trail rig - now you get to start trying to decide what to do first! Once the motor is done; what's next? lift? locker? SAS?

No idea. Just want to get it running. Since I can't just go get an engine and throw in it tomorrow I'm just going to start putting it back together and making sure all the electronics work inside. It's got Duplicolor bedliner in it but I scratched it with my fingernail and it came off. So I'll probably gut the inside and put in some other bedliner material soon.

Your first post said "put gas directly into it"; that mean it is carbed? If yes; I think I would switch over to propane first and foremost.

No it's EFI. That's just what the guy said. I think he said the fuel pump was bad so maybe that's why he said it? I don't know. I don't know shit about engines so this swap will be my learning time.

Might be cheaper/easier getting someone who knows something about engines to check it first. A fuel pump replacement will be a lot quicker/cheaper than a motor swap.

It's got 298k on it. I'm replacing regardless.

Thanks man. I'm liking it a lot. It's a lot of project but that's what I wanted. I need to make a trip down to Rob's and pick at what's left of that parts 4Runner he bought.

Blsake are you gonna trailer it or drive it to the trails?

Was having this conversation with my dad on the way to pick it up. I would like to be able to drive it to the close trails like Bridgeport and Tolar. But other than those two I will trailer it.
