The GLFab Exhaust manifold came in last week. He really does a great job on these. Naturally I had to throw the Turbo on for good measure..

Pulsar 3071 Gen 2 - Seems these are the ones getting popular with the guys boosting 2/3RZs
For the price I gave it a shot..

  • Dual Ceramic Ball Bearing System
  • 8 Blade Gen2 Billet Compressor Wheel with Extended Tapered Tip Technology
  • Inconel 713c 10 Blade Turbine Wheel
  • Gen2 Cover Integrated with the Speed Sensor Port
  • 3" V-Band Flange exhaust housing
  • 4" inlet on Turbine Housing: T3 0.83A/R
  • Performance turbo for applications with 1.8 – 3.0L engines
  • Max Air Flow rate: ~60 lb/min, rated @ 650 FWHP
I found a Turbosmart Hypergate45 and a eBay special 44mm exhaust pipe to use.. Not in its final orientation yet.

Considering a 3 port boost controller but need to look into that some more and how it integrates on the Haltech 750, If not, I'll use the manual Turbosmart on I have on the shelf that I never used for my other truck.

The T3 Spacer is on for now to buy some needed clearance for the coil packs in front of the Air filter. Those may get relocated. The spacer does buy me some room for the Turbo oil drain though. The air filter may need to be extended and routed differently, but that is where it will live for now. Now that I have a reference; I can pull the pan, install the 10AN bung for the turbo drain and plumb that up.
I also got the 4AN oil feed plumbed up from the oil filter to the turbo with a few fittings.

Air charge from the turbo is 2" moving to 2.75" at the throttle body. I hope it is able to clear the accessory drive and fan on the radiator. I still need some more parts to check that. May get my buddy to tig me up a shiny piece when its in its final configuration.

Exhaust will be 3in all the way out through a Flowmaster Flow FX muffler. It should be nice and ricey..

I may put the 2wd A340 pan back on to relocate the Trans dipstick to the other side even though I may lose a little capacity.
I over fill the trans anyways and will have a trans cooler plumbed in too.

Badass!

Still waiting on my Atlas so, been killing time on other things.

Nathan came by to assist with a fabricated cold side intake pipe. He 3D printed some 2" straight and 22 degree pie cut pieces and we managed to route the crossover a little closer to the engine and reduced some of the 90s to help streamline it a bit better. The tight radius bends that are achieved with the pie cuts are so much cleaner than what I had before. There is still enough wiggle room for some alignment on the install when it is all fabbed out of aluminum. The silicone couplers total. Had to use the middle tee since it was 54 bucks lol. I couldn't not use it at that price..

Looking too damn good to use that middle T as it is. That middle T needs to be aluminum.

I was thinking that too. It will be hidden behind my radiator anyways..

Atlas came in earlier last week and I finally got a chance to swing by and pick it up .

Promptly got it unboxed and stabbed into place.

I mocked up the seats and mounts. 1st try was with 1.75" DOM tube, FAIL. I wasn't happy with the height. No pics because time and material wasted lol.

I'm going to move and modify my Trans Xmember and try to lower the transmission and clock the atlas almost flat. Second try was with 1.25" DOM, this seems to be the path forward. I cut the tacks last night and moved it towards the rear to get the seats down about 3 inches. There is still a little more to be had. Planning on integrating the Atlas shifter mount to the the front seat mount tube. Looks like there is room and they will be easy to reach and out of the way of my right leg.

Might as well get these as low as possible. I found some rubber vibration mounts at McMaster with 12mm x 1.75 studs to thread into the tail shaft housing and will make a base with some 3in wide channel iron (or something similar) which will mount to the top of the Xmember. The current rear trans mount is just too tall an this will buy me another inch or so. This will hopefully get the seats in place and at an acceptable height.

Also, tacked in the orbital mount and column mount assembly just to see where it's going to live. I may need to move up to a 12in steering column from the 9.5" one I currently have or just modify the column mount I currently have.

Finalized the seat mounts (I hope). I ended up lowering the Trans X member and using some 1.25" DOM to lower the seats in the chassis.

I tacked in a TMR Atlas tail shaft support with some 1.25" .250 square tube but am unsure if I like it or if its necessary.

Battery will be mounted in the tray between the seats and in front of the coolers. I may add some expanded metal on the sections each side of the battery for some additional storage areas.

Extended the downpipe 3" from the turbo to lower the plex joint and muffler to where it should make the pass side floor a bit easier to fabricate. I will have to rework my trans cooler fittings since they are getting pretty close. Muffler is a 3" in/out Flowmaster FX. Hopefully its not too ricey..

Snagged these Fluidyne E-Line coolers from summit when they were on sale. One will be for the transmission and the other for the steering.

To Do:

  1. Finish welding out motor mounts. Reinstall Wastegate and turbo oil drain.
  2. Fab fuel cell mount, may need an Idea or 2 since the 8 gallon cell I plan to use has a sump
  3. Mount the storage rack above the fuel cell.
  4. Ice Chest mount behind fuel cell
  5. Drink beer in shop
  6. Mount brake pedal and accelerator pedal
  7. Figure out where all the Steering system components will be located under in the engine bay
  8. Work on front driveshaft midship mount
  9. Mount headrests
  10. Drink beer in shop
  11. Harness mounts
  12. Design shift lever mount for Atlas
  13. Dog house design
  14. Plumb Turbo to Throttle body
  15. Reinstall radiator
  16. Drink beer in shop
  17. Floor pans for diver and passenger side
  18. Figure out skid plate mounting for Transmission and engine
  19. Spend a lot more $$$ on parts (40spl GW 3rd, Switch Pros RCR12, RadDesigns VX shifter, calipers and pads from Branik, 38spl outers from Branik, inner shafts from ECGS)

LOL. Well my ribs are still healing so that works better. :). Serious. Just riding around in the kids Jeep hurts my rigs. Those Rubicon seats are made to hold folks in place. Shit hurts in corners and bumps. But it’s looking great man, can’t wait to see it up and running.

Got back from Cancun last night. Time to get to work on this again. I think I'm going to add a 3" v-band and about 6 more inches (LOL) of exhaust tube in front of the the flex joint to be able to make the assembly removable (if need be)

  26. GW 3rd is bought and in hand. Need to swap the front 3rd to the rear and install the new 3rd in the front bought 250wt oil and Lube locker gaskets
  27. need to buy axle seals (4) for the housings.

Cargo basket that I found that fit just about perfect in the space I had available.
Should be room for all kinds of random stuff.

IMG_9342.jpeg

Basket is supported with 1.5DOM which can be removed if needed.

IMG_9343.jpeg

Cooler is in place.

IMG_9344.jpeg

Exhaust is fully welded. Single tab in the rear on the seat mount. Flex joint is up front. I may need to massage a small area on the downpipe between the frame and the bellhousing.

IMG_9345.jpeg

Knocked out the inner bearing to begin mocking up the brakes... Last part (that I forgot to order) should be here this week..
Brakes are all the Branik hats, rotors, brackets and will be 6 piston all the way around.

There is a jack stand under there as well.. working on this alone I have to make sure I work somewhat safe.

IMG_9346.jpeg

MC and Resi mock up. Not sure I like this yet. The billet slider from BMR is pimp though.. The Wilwood 10:1 pedal is in a good spot. I just need to clean up the top bracketry a little better.

Atlas shifters are in the background. I may need to bend them over to the Driver side a smidge.

Apparently I didn't realize the front knuckles are 12+ SDs and the rears are 05-11. Had a buddy rework them in CAD by elongating the Branik bracket to accommodate the wider mounts. Sent it off to Send Cut Send. So I Got the rear axle knocked out while Im waiting..

IMG_9356.jpeg

The trays behind the seats now are solid and the accessories that will be mounted there are being laid out. Battery box will be in the middle, passenger side is still undecided and driver side will have the fuel pump/filter and rear steer controller from Radial Dynamics.

Mounted up the headrests over each of the seats. Had the covers made at 486 Motorsports out of Michigan to match the PRP colors..

Moved the orbital over a few inches inward since the steering wheel wasn't centered on the driver seat.

Worked on the MC mount and added some additional plate to completely fill the upper tubing support.. Should be pretty close to where it will permanently reside. Still undecided on it currently..

I began working on the doghouse which will have the Haltech IC7, Main Power disconnect, Switch Pros RCR 12 and RADesigns VX shifter. Initial impressions are that everything should be easily in reach.

I build the structure out of 1.25". It SHOULD be able to house the Haltech 750, Haltech WB1 module, Switch Pros module and power distribution buss bar. I need to lay that out once I have everything plated. I hope to be able to keep this area as weather resistant as possible. Ordered the VX shifter today so I have an idea of the layout for the compartment cover. I'm going to use 10 ga. plate for the cover to add a bit of rigidity.

Threw the pass seat in to mount the head rest and to test the current Atlas shifter location. Looking at it now, I may not need to bend them.

1771368313979.png

Not a lot of progress but,,

I ended up mounting the fuel pump and filter under the driver side seat plate. Should be tucked up high enough.
Hoses will get a more permanent mounting solution later on down the road. Still in mock up..

1771368365550.png

Fabbed up the rear brake light mount. Rear View Mirror tacked into place

1771368405674.png

Worked on the interior some more. Rear steer valve from RD will be living behind the driver seat.
I need to trim the atlas shifter mount 1-2" to clear the trail soda holders. An I tacked the orbital mount in backwards lol. Gotta fix that..

1771368424793.png

Heat shield under the passenger seat. Its upside down in the pic..
The reflective portion is doubled up with some Ti insulation sandwiched in between.

1771368461077.png

Temp sensor modification on the back of the engine block. Heated up the nipple, pulled it out, tapped it and plugged it.
the nipple was going to be in the way of the fuel lines and this bought me some clearance and cleaned it up a little.
Broke the temp sensor so a new one got installed.

I was having some arbitrary little issues, nothing major. I do a bunch of driving and needed something with less mileage and more comfort.
