If you only knew how much money we spend for clean up, just my branch alone this year about 70mil, and this is a very light year because the govt has not had a real budget in years...that’s just Army, you have several other DoD components in that same areas. After cleanup for UXO, it gets a 98-99% confidence rating and approved by Fed & state regulators.
It’s sad but we’re organized how the EPA is organized for environmental work, Our branch covers west coast, us territories Japan Marsh islands, S Korea, HI and a bunch of islands you have no clue the US has strategic interest in, or maybe at.
It has estimated this year, EPA has caused DoD to spend upwards of 320mil maybe high as 350mil on water testing.
They want all water wells within 20 miles of DoD tested...but yet, it’s known 98% of all the water in the world is already polluted.

it was when Rich was still up here. Him and I were shooting slingshots when it took place so we didn't see it. Just herd the boom from the slingshot that took it's head off. hard to remember, but we may have heard the scream from the guy who stepped on it. Closest Ive ever been to being bit by one was waking up to take a hangover leak on the shores of Smith Mountain Lake in WV. Rattle snake was sunning himself on the rocks. I just about pee'd on him until he started rattling. Then did my best to not fall into him in my drunken stupor of panic while pinching off my stream. That woke me up real quick.

I ran over 2 in New Mexico back in the early 90’s. I recall my friend Tim was riding behind me both times. Lucky bastard. Second one was coiled up in pissed off position when he got to it. Ran over a third by myself. Also ran over a copperhead here in Texas. Not nearly as big but damn he was mad.. maybe because I skid across him??

Just got an e-mail from NJDEP stating they are no longer using Reserve America as their means to reserve sites. Woot! I hated them and all their BS fee's. They ruined camping down here. First come first serve is always better IMHO. Stops the fair weather fairies from reserving the best sites months ahead of time then never showing up when it gets a little cold or rainy like happens now all the time. Fingers crossed the new system run by the gubment is better, but I have a feeling it is not and they just wanted more of the fees camping brings in vs giving it to some third party like they have been. It always amazes me to go camping in a campground where all the sites are reserved yet I'm the only one there. Prob happen this weekend to me because its a "little cold out".
