Especially if we are going back to Arkansas. I put a little dent in my trans oil pan getting over the hump that @tex almost got high centered going to the lunch spot / overlook. Something is better than nothing.

Pick a better line, I drug a trailer over that and didn't touch shit. :D

yeah.. you can tell when you hit shit that would cause a dent.

Replaced the original serpentine belt with another OEM one that I got from Camelback. I figured 150k and almost 10 years was long enough for a piece of rubber. The old one will go under the seat in case of emergency.

Pics for reference in case I (or you) ever need it.

Yeah I changed my OEM around ~150k miles IIRC as well. Only had a few shallow tears in the belt. It's currently under my seat as well as a backup.

Windshield replaced with FYG glass yesterday.

I was a little sketched out when I saw that they were located in the junk yard and their shop was basically 3 carports and all the work was done essentially outside. Oh, and it was pouring down rain. The owner was Lebanese and no telling what the other employees nationalities may have been. They seemed very.....mafia-esque. However, their service was AWESOME. Very cut and dry, no nonsense (yet very respectful/polite) approach. He reused the molding and pointed out errors that the previous windshield replacer (Safelite) had made. They were about $50 less than the next closest quote and over $100 less than Safelite for the replacement. I was in and out in about 40 minutes.

I did overhear a phone conversation about someone who got shot while wearing a ballistics vest. Not sketch at all.

At least they are safe enough to wear ballistic vests. That should be a primary safety device for all people installing windshields. Right?

Hey, I gave them a great review on Google. They seemed like they really knew what they were doing and they were efficient, professional and polite. I have absolutely zero reason to complain.

How do you like the glass itself?

How do you like the glass itself?

The glass itself seems fine. It isn't quite the same shape as the OEM glass. It's a little flatter. I can only tell this because the mount for the ultragauge that I had behind the rearview mirror no longer fits without pushing the mirror over to the side. I also found it odd that there is no branding on the glass itself. But as far as serving the purpose of a windshield, there is no distortion and it is clear, so I'm happy.

I did notice that I can see gobs of the adhesive on the inside of the windshield on both sides, so I'd say the installer was not as experienced as he seemed. It annoyed me at first, but now I don't really notice it.

I also sold the camper top over the weekend. I was on the fence about it. I think they can be incredibly useful, but I wasn't really using it for its intended purpose. It helped to keep some furniture dry on one trip and my gas can dry on another, but I wasn't going to build a sleeping platform or anything else that would add a decent amount of permanent weight. So I decided to put it on craigslist for nearly double what I paid and it sold in 2 days.

I do not know of anyone besides the OE mfg that does the windshields right for Tacoma's IMHO. Every aftermarket one Ive seen has those flat spots at the corners w/funky distortion if you hold your head up that high.

Better to have too much adhesive than not enough, but it also shouldn't squirt out the sides.

I forgot to tell you my #1 tip for windshield replacement, but you're south so it shouldn't matter all that much. When they strip the old one off the metal under it MUST be PRIMED properly. Ive seen more than a few cars rusting out from behind the glass because the window guy never prepped the metal properly. That extra 5 minutes of proper prep work can save you thousands down the line

I haven't noticed any distortion though, so that is good.

You tall? I can only see it when looking through it where the distortion is and that's high up.

Distorted glass is my kryptonite so I notice it much more often than the average guy.

Haters gonna hate.

...but I picked up the AllPro trans skid. Got a great deal on it and they included a free shirt!

Aluminum or steel? If it is steel then you could get a brace welded to it to really bulk it up.

Steel. They don't seem to make the trans skid in aluminum. I ended up getting it 50% off with 15% off that. Considering that I've only ever needed it once, not likely that it'll see much abuse and it gives me some peace of mind.

I thought the same thing and then promptly bent in my Theifreybilt (Pelfreybilt) tranny skid. I still need to add a piece of angle iron across to reinforce it.

But you can see what I'm talking about in this pic. This is the Bud Built skid.
