I searched for ideas on this for quite a while before starting this build. My sammich maker drew out what she would like to be able to store inside the field kitchen so I knew what to build around. So now I have enough progress that it actually kind of resembles a field kitchen frame.
First - the idea for the field kitchen.
So far my sammich maker has sanded down slats from a few pallets for the sides. This weekend we should get them cut to fit and then just about ready to be secured into place. I have been working on getting the frame tacked together for fitment before welding it all together solid. The frame has been built out of 3/4" angle 1/8" thick. I am trying to keep an eye on the overall weight without it being so lite it is unstable.
So the plan is to build the lid tomorrow night. Then I will start figuring out the interior setup.
