Hmm, never knew you could get one that attached to a daytime scope...I wonder if it would be any better than a stand alone thermal?
Should be better. You get the clarity of your daytime scopes optics (if you get a good one) along with thermal capabilities.

Interesting....Guess that's something else to look into. As far as scopes go, I was thinking maybe the Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 Vortex Optics - Viper PST Gen II Riflescopes
Yeah my coworker has one of those and it's a pretty sweet scope for the price. I own a Vortex Razor HD Gen II 4.5‑27x56mm and it's the best optic quality for the money. Absolutely love that scope.

I would suggest checking this thread everyday for deals on scopes. It's how I found my Gen II on sale. If you are patient and can wait, I guarantee that you'll find a good deal on a great scope.
Optics - Buy - Sell - Trade - Sniper's Hide Forums

Also I would buy a Mil-RAD-Mil-RAD scope instead of MOA. It's easier to do the calculations and it's becoming the industry standard across the board.

I honestly don't know much about scopes at all. I was only looking at Vortex because my friend has a good deal with them. On other rifles I have Zeiss, Leupold, Bushnell, Nikons etc and they're all just fine. No gripes with any

Only reason I love Vortex is their customer service and warranty.

But any Nightforce, Khales or Vortex high end scope is going to be ideal. You'll also want a FFP (first focal plane) as well to be able to shoot at whatever magnification you want. I have up to 27x power on my scope but I typically always shoot around 12-15x. Like the other day, I was shooting at 1000 yards at 15x.

If you don't have the right optics, you'll never be able to take full advantage of the 6.5 round. You'll want a high end scope so you can hunt as early or late as possible due to the light gathered by the scope.

My thoughts as well. It's a very capable gun and it deserves a nice scope.

Do not feel bad spending as much on the glass as you did on the rifle. That is about the way it should be.

It was hard for me to realize at first...but if you can't see it, then you can't hit it.

I shot with a guy that had all Nightforce scopes on his precision/fun guns. But on his hunting guns he had all Swarovski scopes because the higher optical clarity allowed him to hunt longer.

Optical clarity is hard to understand in bright light. You really have to test it in low light/ moon light situations to really appreciate the difference between good glass and amazing glass.

Would they arrest you if I emailed you a picture of hollow point bullets loaded into a high capacity magazine for a full auto firearm?

So my sammich maker follows a FB page called Gun Goddess. She did a like/share thing a few weeks ago and today found out she won a laser cut rose pattern free floating hand guard. She also gets it cerakoted any color she wants as part of the prize. I had though about setting up my spare lower for her as a Christmas present so this just kind of confirms the idea.

The part where I win is that I am going to setup my 16" 300 Blackout upper with her new handguard. This leaves me free to get a 6.x barrel for my upper. She gets a new rifle and I get a new caliber to play with. I guess I will keep my 10" 300 Blackout upper for less than 300 yds and then setup the new upper with nice glass for long range shooting.

Cheers to a new money pit! I have not even looked into reloading for a new caliber yet.

I saw on Facebook where she did that. Cool that she won!

I've been hinting pretty strongly that I want one of their holster mounts for Christmas

I have one of those exact ones. Its "ok"... its flops around a bit more than I would like. Also, its hard to get the gun out because its not that secure so the gun wants to twist and not come out straight. I "think" that its really just the issue with the Tacomas lower plastic not allowing it to grab tight enough. You might have better success.

A lot of 3rd Gen guys use them, the pic on the web actually shows it installed on a 3rd gen 4R. I lost my "factory holster holder" on the side of the passenger seat when I put on my Wet Okole's so I've been looking for something to compensate

Right, and I've seen them on 1st gen Tacomas and they look nice and tight. Mine actually bounced off and was just hanging one time. I could probably jack with it and maybe get some new straps or something to help it hold in place.

What is this factory holster holder you speak of?
