Fishy; but sad that it is even questionable for a company like Sig. What happened to the "hell and back" reliability of the P226? P229? and hell yeah the P220!
Exactly!

Anyone got recommendations on match grade .223/556 ammo that's not hollow point? I can't legally defend my self with it should the situation ever arise. Seems all the good new stuff is HP or has a concave tip. I can use HP polymer filled bullets so long as the polymer protrudes from the casing's tip like Hornady offers but that stuffs $$$. If there is any negative curve to the tip I'm basically SOL. Pretty sure Ill feed her Hornady but wanted to put it out to you folks that are more experienced in case my web research has missed any magic bullets. I will not shoot much and the ammo must be able to sit for years with dependability being my primary concern before long range accuracy. Going to break in the barrel with a small ammo purchase and hopefully after that works out stick to one brand and buy in bulk.
Your self defense ammo should be expensive. Either 69gr or 77gr. I prefer Black Hills but I haven't looked to see if they have any polymer or non hollow point bullets.

Another vote for Hornady here. I think most all their stuff is rock solid for the price. Are they the best? Probably not. Are they the most expensive? Not quite, but they aint cheap. Is it the best bang for the buck? They take my money...

TLDR: Americans don't like being told what they can & can't buy. Simple research of past bans shows this.

Speer gold dot is soft point. I've got some stacked away. Psa ran a sale a while back on it for like $7.99/box of the 64gr flavor.

The thing that scares politicians the most is that there are 1.2 million veterans out there that are experienced at some level with guerrilla warfare. The hardest enemy to defeat is the enemy you cannot find. It is impressive what a handful of decently trained guys can do and career politicians know this. Guerrilla tactics are the hardest to defeat and few countries have done well against them.

Built this 6.5 Grendel upper today. I still need to buy a JP Enterprises 6.5G bolt for it and some mags. That'll be next months purchases lol This build will allow me to reach out to 900 yards in a tiny package. It'll also be my new hunting rig once I get my scope in.

V Seven upper receiver
V Seven Air dust cover
V Seven Titanium dust cover rod
Rainier Arms 12.5" 6.5 Grendel barrel
SLR .750 adjustable gas block (I reused this one from another upper build I tore apart and sold.)
Spikes Melonited Carbine gas tube. (I had this sitting around in my parts bin. It's brand new.)
Dead Air Muzzle Brake
SLR Ion Lite 10.7" MLOK Handguard
Soon to be: JP Enterprises 6.5 Grendel bolt
Vortex Razor 3-18x50 EBR-7 MRAD scope

Grabbed a pelican 1720 this weekend and luckily still got a nice price for a long running labor day sale. Figured if I was going to invest in a nice water gun & OK optics I might as well put it in a nice case. Also gabbed some silica gel.

Think Ill end up going with SPBT rounds or polymer tipped BT rounds. My optic is optimized for 77 grain BT rounds @ 2700-3000fps. Not likely to hit that velocity with my small 14.5 barrel but I didn't buy this for the primary use of reaching out to 600 yards accurately from a bench. This is my "oh shit" red dawn, gubment gun grab/ban purchase. I just want to reach out to know I can if I had to. Prob not even going to mount the optics until I learn the iron sights good.

BTW - anyone want some black plastic magpul back up/flip up sights? Ill let them go cheap when they come in. I didn't research anything nearly enough before I pulled the trigger on the buy so that's one thing I did wrong. Prob swap them out for some Aluminum/stainless troy build HK tritium flip up sights.

and that's why I take our laws so serious here in NJ. if you leave a "gun case" exposed - you had better be ready to get your car searched in NJ. You can fight the fact it's not constitutional in court after losing your job, house, family, etc. or you could just be smart and use your turn signal and cover up your gun cases. I thought about putting some guitar stickers on my new case when it shows up just in case it is visible in my car by accident or bad luck. That could potentially poke a hole in the LEO's thoughts of it being a gun case thus grounds for search based on probable cause.

and to clarify - hollow point ammo is not banned in NJ for target practice, but you are not allowed to drive around with it unless you are coming to and from a range w/no stops in between. if I were to use HP ammo to defend myself I would be charged with a felony because self defense is not an acceptable exemption. Also it's not HP ammo thats "banned" per say - it's HP bullets. He was only charged because he said he was not coming from a range and with all his other charges he forced their hands. Guys a total moron thats ignorant of NJ laws. Not to say I agree with NJ laws, but ignorance is not an excuse the gubment will accept.

Pretty much. First step - ask for a lawyer. Second step - shut the f**k up until your lawyer shows up.

If anyone ever has any issues in this crappy state with firearms - ask for this guy as your lawyer and maybe just maybe you won't go to jail. EVAN F. NAPPEN ATTORNEY AT LAW, PC

I have his card in my wallet 24/7/365 and I'd suggest the same for anyone traveling or living in NJ w/firearms.

lol - I didn't take it that far, but that's a good idea to a point. You don't want to take it so far that you look like a dope smoking hippy either because the result could still be a unconstitutional search based on screwed up probable cause. or the LEO lies and says they smelled something funny which is hard to dispute in court.

Also - now that we have no state inspections - the LEO's have been tasked with taking on insuring cars are safe so you can get pulled over for something like "Your tire tread looked like it was lower than allowed" etc. etc.

I figured you would be the authority on the subject matter.

Those are all twice the price though, unless on sale....

and down the rabbit hole you go lol

His buy once cry once theory is expensive when in practice, but the best stuff always is....and still prob cheaper than buying a crappy can then finding out it sucks and having to then buy a good one.
