Wait... school? What kind of books are you chewing on now? I am looking forward to how you "upgrade" this rig. I think running with @the_white_shadow is making you upgrade faster than you planned. I cannot say that I blame you.

Wheeling is probably done for the summer unless the right opportunity arises.
Work is hectic and I am in school full time on top of that.

Immediate Plans are to:
-fix the pass side A pillar
-install windshield
-cut down sliders
-partial exo to protect the cab/roof/a pillars a little better
-rework the tube bed a little
-tuck in front winch for a better approach angle
-beadlocks (around Christmas)

Farther down the road:
-3 link front
-sell R151, duals,TC x member
-700R4, Atlas 2, RAD manual controller and Rock shifter
-5.3 LS Swap

FIFY :)

Well I do have a bellhousing that will work with an A340F for a 3800 SC Pontiac swap If I want to go that route.

I had a Buick V6 in my old 82 Yota (231 with Edelbrock intake/cam.. Holley 390 4 barrel, chrome headers, 9.5:1 compression.. made maybe 225 horse. As much $$ as I had in that damn thing I should have done a small block... more power and less money.

Well I Picked up an A340F yesterday. I guess the auto swap will happen sooner than expected.
I have the bell housing, TC and flexplate from a 22re that I picked up a while back.

Now the expensive part starts.

Curious, how are you planning to control the trans? I didn't think the 22re comp would work with any of the newer autos

Trans will be manually controlled with a RAD Designs Rail II shifter. I don't have to modify the harness at all. Pretty neat unit for $100.00.

The transmission shifter I plan to use:

Rock Floor Shifter

The Transmission controller:

Baja Controller

The adapter for the Atlas:

50-5710 : Toyota Tacoma Tranmission to Atlas transfer case Adapter Kit (23 spline) | Advance Adapters

The new TC: (Still figuring out if i want the 3.8/4.3/or 5.0 low range)

AdvanceAdapters.com | Engine & Transmission Conversion Adapters - Advance Adapters

Is keeping the stock transfer case an option? An auto swap is something in going to have to do (or get a knee replacement) but I have no interest in spending a shut load of money on an Atlas.

You can definitely swap an auto in and use the toy cases. Inchworm makes an adapter for 21 and 23 spine TC inputs.

Cool as all that is I just can't see spending all that on a 22re. Autos are nice but they soak up power, power that the 22re just doesn't have to spare
